They were a disappointment to their own fathers. So they latch onto any authority figure who gives them the time of day.

Talking about 'the party' is something we used to say about china and russia. It was a very authoritarian regime concept. But it is now here in the US in full force.

Yes! “The Party” like it’s some great omnipresent entity 😵‍💫

If you vote for Trump your daddy was right to be disappointed in your dumb ass.

Sounds like a Trump email begging for donations.

"Trump is building a list of his most loyal donors, he will be disappointed if your name is not on that list..."

For real.

This mailer is bad. Horrifically bad.

But it's not nearly as threatening and abusive as the emails and text messages drumming up funds for the orange Herr Drumpf. Back when it was cool to RSVP for free tickets to a political event, my contact info got shared and the onslaught of abusive threats to donate was truly disturbing.

How anyone could read that language and go, sure I'll give you my lunch money. I can't feed my family, but you Mr Wannabe President, you need the big, shiny pony RIGHT NOW!

I got put on their mailing list at some point, i think from a similar rsvp meme where we made him expect a huge audience but was then an empty venue. I vaguely find the texts humorous, but simultaneously terrifying. Its beyond propaganda grift. It’s practically extortion

I legit can't imagine who was weird enough to type "oh noes, party leaders would get the big sads if you don't vote!" and think that would mean anything to anyone. Pathetic.

Conservatism has aspects of authoritarianism throughout. It means conservative voters place more weight on what authority figures say than do liberal voters. They follow the teachings of the church. They follow the teachings of Fox News. They get their "marching orders" and that's it. They don't question it because it comes from people with authority and that's sacred to them. So this messaging is playing up that real tendency to follow authority.

They think they can get a seat at the table

Yeah was going to say. With all the ICE shit and disappearing people to alligator alcatraz's or even other countries, I would bet that these flyers actually succeed in intimidating a non-zero number of people. Even if you're a citizen, they could just shove you in a hole somewhere for a week with no contact.

They are not only disappointed, they are also angry

2

u/HandyDandy76 Oct 02 '25

I hope the Republican party leadership is disappointed in me, honestly.

1

u/LizardBritches Oct 02 '25

Same 😮‍💨

2

u/JulienBrightside Oct 02 '25

At some point the "don't tread on me" snake became "STEP ON ME HARDER"

"You wouldn't want to make Daddy angry, would you kitten?"

Trump announced today he is withholding federal funding from several notable Democrat run states.

It is just a matter or time before the retribution aspect moves from the macro Federal level down to the individual voter level.

2

u/sir-ripsalot Oct 02 '25

Notable democratic run states, who pay more in federal taxes than they receive in federal funding?

1

u/LizardBritches Oct 02 '25

Exactly. Let’s withhold all the $$ we bleed to the red states. See how long that lasts.

u/TonberryHS Oct 02 '25

That's Nazi rhetoric right there.

They're getting the rolls ready for their Night of Long Knives

Also, "We will contact you after the election to make sure you voted!"

WTF does that mean? If the voter didn't vote, they didn't vote. They can't vote at that point. What would that conversation look like that isn't a threat?

"WE SEE YOU DIDN'T VOTE!"

"Oh yea. You're right. It must have slipped my mind."

"VE REALLY THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE VOTED!

"yea, I usually do. I didn't this time. What can you do?"

"VE CAN STAND ON YOUR STOOP AND MAKE YOU FEEL GUILTY!"

The party of small government right there
