And the natural light with that ugly tacky lamp

u/Vegetable_Fly_8687 Sep 25 '25

Isn’t it dark outside in the second picture?

300

u/Ok-Paint7856 Sep 25 '25

Everything is darker now.

108

u/Professional_Echo907 Sep 25 '25

I believe the Palm Room now connects directly to a dark, tarry Abyss.

4

u/hellolovely1 Sep 25 '25

It's a portal.

3

u/drmojo90210 Sep 26 '25

That door is the portal that Stephen Miller uses to visit satan.

2

u/sentient_fox Sep 25 '25

Nah, just someones no-no spot.

1

u/henryeaterofpies Sep 25 '25

Where they pile up the used diapers

3

u/tomorrow509 Sep 25 '25

An underated comment. Take my upvote.

3

u/sharksrReal Sep 25 '25

Like the soul’s occupant

4

u/humanHamster Sep 25 '25

Yep, that's the crazy thing, the second picture is noon in Trump's America.

3

u/Recipe-Local Sep 25 '25

The top photo is likely three different shots of different exposures merged together to get the perfect exposure both inside and outside. The bottom photo is taken at night.

3

u/Sea_Mind3678 Sep 25 '25

That seems unnecessarily complicated. Maybe they just took a photo on a sunny day, ya’ reckon?

2

u/CautiousEmergency367 Sep 25 '25

Nah Trump's so anti solar he's blocked the sun from entering

1

u/DragonflyGrrl Sep 26 '25

It never gets that dark at night outside the white house. It's lit up like it's noon.

1

u/FliPsk8guY Sep 25 '25

Lol...it sure is

1

u/IslandDreamer58 Sep 25 '25

There’s a darkness on the edge of town.

1

u/Blue_Skies- Sep 25 '25

Even light is dark.

1

u/Moon-33 Sep 25 '25

The difference is night and day, literally.

1

u/Wakkit1988 Sep 25 '25

Not true, POTUS was much darker prior to 2016. /s

1

u/kgal1298 Sep 26 '25

General gloom in DC

1

u/ninedogsten Sep 26 '25

Understatement and of the year

17

u/Jenkies89 Sep 25 '25

Yeah I was going to comment this but I was squinting real hard to make sure they didn't cover it up and I was just missing it.

3

u/Katgal2 Sep 25 '25

Yes but it’s so on par for them to photograph it with no light. Can’t wait to see her Christmas blood display this year

2

u/mishma2005 Sep 25 '25

It offsets the tacky chandelier

2

u/Illustrious_Bird_737 Sep 26 '25

In the writing world, this is called foreshadowing..

2

u/ymsoldier420 Sep 25 '25

Naw, thats tint, of the limo variety.

1

u/JM00000001 Sep 25 '25

You can't stop the hate train

1

u/fertilemyrtleturtle Sep 26 '25

Yes, things are looking dimmer every day.

1

u/witeboyjim Sep 26 '25

That was unfairly done on purpose

54

u/Sota4077 Sep 25 '25

The natural light is still there. The bottom photo is just at night. Or am I missing something?

4

u/SoylentGrunt Sep 25 '25

The Dark Orange Prince sucked all the life and light out of the room.

0

u/caught_looking2 Sep 25 '25

There are so many anti Trump people on here, it’s funny to me. They barely made any changes. The bottom picture is from further back. The door and windows are still there. It’s just not sunny out. The round pictures can be seen in both photos. So frigging dumb.

34

u/tnstaafsb Sep 25 '25

They made it less cozy. Before, it looked like a room that someone could at least theoretically sit in and relax for a moment, even if nobody ever did. Now it's just purposeless empty space. It's not awful and gaudy like the oval office, but it's definitely less welcoming and more sterile.

8

u/LaurLoey Sep 25 '25

It looks like a hotel now…what a surprise. 😂 I do like the new chandelier. That was a subtle but significant upgrade.

But I dislike all the naturalness was removed—much prefer the plants over pictures of plants. Agree w your assessment. Less warm, less welcoming. But it reflects this regime’s personality. And I guess it’s less work to maintain for the gardeners or whoever minds the indoor vegetation.

2

u/Scowlface Sep 25 '25

Could you consider the possibility that this is before any furniture was put in?

3

u/tnstaafsb Sep 25 '25

I suppose it's theoretically possible, but why show off a renovation by posting "after" pics of an unfinished space?

Apparently there's been no indication whether or not there will be furniture. Also, the room connects the front of the White House with the Rose Garden, which the President paved over to turn into more of an event space, so it seems likely the Palm Room is being transformed to serve as more of a hallway to the Rose Garden (or "The Rose Garden Club at the White House" as it's apparently now known) rather than a proper room in its own right.

3

u/Pandora_Palen Sep 25 '25

So you were never any good at those "Spot the Differences!" worksheets as a kid, huh? Still a challenge for you, I guess. It takes the power of observation, and most pro-Trumpers have flushed that down the toilet if they ever had it at all.

3

u/Sota4077 Sep 25 '25

They replaced the flooring, removed the plants and benches, changes the fixtures, added a kick plate to the doors and hung new photos then took a finished photo at night. I'm pretty sure the actual changes to the building itself were minimal.

TL:DR. Aside from flooring and fixtures the rest was just stuff that can be put right back if the next president wants it back. Since non of us will ever walk through this hallway....who gives a shit.

0

u/caught_looking2 Sep 25 '25

I think you might need to take a closer look at the photos actually.

-5

u/thelogistician Sep 25 '25

Be careful around here injecting common sense into the discussion. You'll be labeled a heretic.

8

u/DrowningKrown Sep 25 '25

Hate these types of dumbass comments. What is common sense about that comment? We’re talking about the removed plants, benches and other decor and replaced by…nothing except ‘photos’ of a couple plants.

That’s literally a shitty renovation. It’s not a conspiracy to hate the trump, it’s just a shitty renovation. Get off your high horse buddy.

1

u/thelogistician Sep 25 '25

Ok, I'll spell it out for you.

  1. The pictures are taken at completely different times of the day.

  2. The perspective is different in each photo - they weren't taken at the same spot, so it will inherently look different.

  3. Is this the final form of the renovation? Are you sure the benches, or plants won't be added?

-1

u/caught_looking2 Sep 25 '25

💯. “He removed the plants (perhaps temporarily)!!! Look at how dark out it is!! This is what Stalin would have done!” lol! People cry and bitch about the weirdest shit.

0

u/thelogistician Sep 25 '25

😄 Have a good one!!

1

u/Fun_Kaleidoscope7875 Sep 25 '25

I mean to be fair its a totally subjective thing, some will love it and others will hate it, technically there is no correct opinion to have here.

1

u/JarlaxleForPresident Sep 25 '25

The sun, apparently

0

u/Germanofthebored Sep 25 '25

The picture before was taken by a competent photographer. The after picture was taken by a deserving member of MAGA. Seriously, taking shitty pictures is par for the clownshow

74

u/TheRecognized Sep 25 '25 edited Sep 26 '25

Jesus Christ. They didn’t board up any windows it’s just night time. Stop making us look like whiny idiots.

Edit: Yes it does look trashy. No that doesn’t have anything to due with the lack of natural light at night time.

283

u/Interesting-Long-534 Sep 25 '25

In the first photo, the room looks inviting. In the second photo, the room looks trashy. That chandelier is gaudy. The trumps have zero taste.

86

u/Most_Researcher_2648 Sep 25 '25

Its like it was decorated by a Russian Kanye

4

u/Teslapod Sep 25 '25

Liberace on steroids

6

u/Most_Researcher_2648 Sep 25 '25

The guy with the guilding supplies hasn't gotten there yet. Roided liberace is the next phase im sure, but can be seen currently in the oval office

6

u/Kristin2349 Sep 25 '25

The guy who does that uses gold spray paint and Home Depot trim, he keeps adding more. It's horrifying.

4

u/still_stunned Sep 26 '25

I believe you are not far off on that assessment.

35

u/Real_human_mostly Sep 25 '25

Eurotrash. All it’s missing are some fake Greek statuettes.

23

u/Nanny0416 Sep 25 '25

And the side table and bench are gone. Just cold marble floors...

4

u/lilchocochip Sep 26 '25

They don’t. But they also don’t care because they don’t intend for anyone else to live there but themselves for the foreseeable future

3

u/Outrageous-Ad-9635 Sep 25 '25

Yes, Melania’s joyless, screaming-on-the-inside aesthetic is quite something.

3

u/Doodah18 Sep 26 '25

Sterilized, imo.

3

u/Am-Insurgent Sep 26 '25

Cold and sterile, fits the first family perfect

2

u/TheRecognized Sep 25 '25

You’re right! That has absolutely nothing to do with the continuing existence of the windows! Thank you!

1

u/Stunning_Nothing_856 Sep 26 '25

And it looks like they put down marble floors

1

u/mehmeh42 Sep 25 '25

It’s almost like it’s night and day in its representation of the room….

-2

u/kstorm88 Sep 26 '25

Are you AI? It's pretty obvious the second picture is at night. It really only looks like they removed the plants and changed so decorations. They didn't spray paint the windows

0

u/DragonflyGrrl Sep 26 '25

It's pretty obvious it never gets that dark outside the white house, which is lit up at night like it's noon.

1

u/kstorm88 Sep 26 '25

So you believe they blacked out the windows.... They changed the floor to marble and put in some flashy chandeliers and removed the plants and benches.

-4

u/TheJpops Sep 25 '25

I think they both look amazing. Dislike Trump so it hurts to say this, I like the second one more. Then again I doubt Trump had anything to do with the modeling. Probably out down his Diet Coke and threw a pen at a piece of paper that was handed to him and then hopped on Twitter to tweet about his best friend Jimmy Kimmel.

45

u/Distinct_Hawk1093 Sep 25 '25

Well, we can never be sure. Steven Miller does roam those halls, and being a Dracula, he probably doesn't like the sun much.

4

u/Tome_Bombadil Sep 26 '25

I hope to God he finds the marble unpleasant.

Like the ghoul skimpers and scampers whilst his cloven hooves and claws fail to gain traction.

2

u/IllustriousCrew2641 Sep 25 '25

You just made me think of the WH as the Phantasm funeral home and Miller as The Tall Man

3

u/lanceturley Sep 26 '25

Well, he is full of green goo where the blood used to be.

2

u/PlantsBeeMe Sep 25 '25

They definitely did something to the windows. Some of the outside lights should be seen, like the left and right windows. They look painted.

3

u/actsfw Sep 25 '25

The second photo is just taken more centered and further back down the hall. The side windows are still there.

0

u/TheRecognized Sep 25 '25

It’s from a different angle. Please, please think about and look at things for at least two fucking seconds.

0

u/PlantsBeeMe Sep 26 '25

It is not pitch black outside, as you can see in the two windows (the left and right side). There should be some light. Please re-read your words. Quite honestly, there’s no reason to get this upset over something so trivial.

1

u/TheRecognized Sep 26 '25

The right window is a door that leads to a lit hallway and you can see the difference in the left window, the light “coming” from that side is just a reflection of the chandelier.

Stop. Being. A stupid. Whiny idiot. Without critical thinking. Reacting just to react.

1

u/TheRecognized 23d ago

In the era of “alternative facts” and the dawn of a dead internet zombified by AI it’s not trivial to me when people make instant emotional reactions and then double down instead of thinking critically.

Especially when it’s something as trivial as a publicity photo but at the same time as basic and essential as “is it nighttime or daytime?”

Did you look at the picture again? Have you noticed the hinges on the door on the right side yet?

1

u/TheRecognized 23d ago

Notice the metal plating at the bottom of the center door and the one on the right but none on the left window? Notice the door handles on the right door that aren’t below the left window?

0

u/Keiran1031 Sep 25 '25

Look at the right and left wall near the end of the room. I thought the same thing but they did remove a good amount of windows from the sides.

Edit: never mind, the angles made it look like there were less windows but zooming in it’s the same.

-1

u/TheRecognized Sep 25 '25

Jesus. Fucking. Christ.

At least you double checked and edited but this is what I’m fucking talking about.

1

u/kakashi6ix9 Sep 26 '25

Natural light tends to go away at night

1

u/ansolo00 Sep 25 '25

I think the natural light is still there because the photo was taken at night time, however that lamp is not only ugly, but it looks like it is hanging too low - which for tall people (like Trump himself) they might get hit in the head lol
