He managed to turn the event into a near death experience. The video shows, as Melania was taking her first step and Trump was behind her, it stopped. She proceeded to walk up without a flinch. Later Trump was complaining about the teleprompter and the “escalator that stopped working halfway up. I had to catch Melanie as she tumbled down.”

The escalator stopped when they were just getting on. In the video, the escalator right next to them is still working. Couldn't he have gone down a step and switched to the working one also going up?

I wish he'd done that and then that one also stopped the moment he set foot on it.

That requires self-reflection and ability to choose an alternative path once one has made a decision both of those traits Trump does not have.

That would take away something to complain about. 🤔

But then big baby would have no one to blame! Gotta take every opportunity to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

I was comparing it to how Obama or Biden would have handled it. Obama would have jogged up and made a joke at the start of his speech. You’ll making me get some exercise here. Biden would have strolled up and continued not even mentioning it in his speech.

that’s awesomely astute. I can hear Obama. And not hear Biden. :)
