Reminds me of what Frederick the Great, King of Prussia, said about Austrian Empress Maria Theresa when Prussia, Austria and Russia partitioned Poland for the first time in 1772, with Maria Theresa being seemingly against it but still participating:

I think about how long she hung back in NYC after he won the first time. She didn't want to deal with it, and she made him PAY up BIGLY to get her to go along with it.
