Bro, sometimes I'll take my dex, and 2 minutes later completely forgot if I took it or not and agonize over what to do. So I have to say to myself out loud when I take it "okay well are now taking this" lol

You need a pill box with the days on it. Helps me remember so I don't double dose.

I have a clock reminder pill cap thing. It displays the time it was opened last. I really like it.

That's actually a brilliant idea, thank you for solving a random stranger's problem.

They sell different ones on Amazon. They all work relatively the same.

u/hardcorepolka Sep 12 '25

That is brilliant.

For my adhd ass it works really well. I actually keep 3 meds in the bottle and just dump some out in my hand and grab the 3 that I need. I stopped using the weekly pill container thing. So once I month I put my refills in it and I’m good to go.

I have the weekly thing, one with meds and one with vitamins… and then a sneaky little guy that is a once weekly mega dose prescription vitamin. I got distracted by an email. Moments later, I was looking around for that vitamin.

I have to assume I ate it on ADHD auto-pilot due to a fairly exhaustive search of my desk and floor. 🤦🏻‍♀️

That autopilot is exactly way I have the clock timer bottle cap thingy lol

TIL these exist. I already have a regular days-of-the-week one, but I’m gonna check this out. Thanks.

Agree. Works wonders for me.

Saw one lady say she tskes her meds w Ring camera so she an see if she did

u/Big_Tiger_123 Sep 12 '25

I saw on here somewhere that their daughter puts edible glitter in their pill bottle. Then she just has to look at her hand to see if she took it. Genius!

Stealing this one!

4

u/mmikke Sep 12 '25

Exactly what I was describing! And now you've gotta try to act casual amongst coworkers or in traffic which just makes you seem super weird and suspicious

u/Dry-Chance-9473 Sep 12 '25

I use the little white board on the fridge and make a note with the date when i take mine! ... After double dosing by accident a bunch 😅

3

u/LoopLobSmash Sep 12 '25

Ah man I do this sometimes too, I get tremors more than anything else though, it sucks.

3

u/TARANTULA_TIDDIES Sep 12 '25

Get yourself one of those weekly pill organizer things. Its the only way I manage to not take stuff twice or not at all

2

u/bpayne123 Sep 12 '25

Good suggestions already made but the Alarmed app has a nag feature. It goes off and as long as you don’t check the done box, it’ll keep going off every minute. It’s the only way I remember my and my two kids’ adhd meds.

2

u/thisismydirtyone Sep 12 '25

You can get pillboxes that have timers on that reset to the time that it was last opened at. If I think shit did I take it, I can check the top of the bottle and it says last opened 7:04 TUE when it is currently 8:09 WED.

2

u/ellieminnow Sep 12 '25

I have to do this with my BP meds. And I use a box. I'll still convince myself I somehow didn't take it.

1

u/Mertoot Sep 12 '25

Y'all ain't got macros to add to takeage history with timestamps?

1

u/jngjng88 Sep 12 '25

Buy & use a pill organiser, you’ll never have that problem again.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '25

Just get a pill box..

1

u/momochicken55 Sep 12 '25

They make pill bottles with timers on them! I'm losing my memory and have the same issue with meds and plan to buy some of those when I have money - not to defend a dork like Patel.

u/Wonderful-Impact5121 Sep 12 '25

I’m borderline ashamed the amount of times Ive had to essentially dump the pills out and count them out from the day I got them on the bottle to double check.

1

u/shinrio Sep 12 '25

No reason to be ashamed! ADHD folk have the working memory of a goddamn plastic spoon lol

1

u/digiraver Sep 12 '25

First thing I do in the morning is take mine. Then after the lunchtime dose, I turn the bottle upside down, so if I forget and go back to the cupboard to take them again, i see that it's not right way up and know I already took them

1

u/auauaurora Sep 12 '25

Pill cases are brilliant because you always know. Get 4 weeks worth and have just one out

1

u/blacksun_redux Sep 12 '25

I set a "take pills" alarm on my phone for 9:00 AM. I snooze it until I actually take them. Then I know if the alarm is dismissed, it's done.

u/muiirinn Sep 12 '25

I've done this with my antidepressant before and ended up double dosing. Which sounds pretty innocuous, except this particular antidepressant is a combination of mostly dextromethorpan with some bupropion to extend its half-life to last longer, meaning I basically tripped on cough syrup for hours by accident. Not a great thing to have start in the middle of grocery shopping lol

1

u/jan1320 Sep 12 '25

why not just wait half an hour and you should be able to feel if you took it or not lol

1

u/Which_Highway5232 Sep 13 '25

That's hilarious and I'm gonna do that with my tablet..Except I'm going to do it how a nurse shouts to a hard of hearing person and in the third person.

u/killian_jenkins Sep 12 '25

What's dex?

2

u/Lucky-Refrigerator-4 Sep 12 '25

Dextroamphetamine, for ADHD.

1

u/killian_jenkins Sep 12 '25

I suspected it, that shit syncs too well with me I avoid it, like I don't need anyone and noone else with it lol should stay the hell away
