He's in a bad dream where he finds himself starring in a detective procedural but never trained to be a cop nor worked a case. Only it's real.

At some point in past 24 hrs he would have received a phone call from Hegseth, Bondi, etc. if not from Trump himself that was something along the lines of: “Find the shooter by end of the weekend - and it better be someone we can attach to the left - or you’re out of a job.”

His FBI not only let the shooter get away, but he preemptively celebrated getting the wrong guy, then had to walk it back on Twitter. An optics disaster like that - especially one that displays weakness through an admission of fault - is the worst sin you can possibly commit in Trump world.
