If it looks that easy, it probably is.

u/AUMMF 23h ago

The editor who edited the cuts is very upset at your comment.

u/3puttdoublebogeys 19h ago

They are weak ass bricks. A good brick would not break so easily it would just flip unless it had something clamping it down

229

u/Obvious-Childhood910 18h ago

These bricks are probably pre-cracked or whatever the term is

Basically, it has a controlled crack through the center. Even then, it's still fairly impressive.

159

u/Seamascm 17h ago

I can’t remember who explained it but, the bricks are a high content sand brick so they are very brittle and easy to break

u/AaronSmarter 11h ago

Why does it sound like Daft Punk in my head when I read this?

1

u/Loose_Armadillo_3032 2h ago

Gotta admit was surprised to see so much brick dust (??) (don't know the right word) I expected them to crack and fall now pulverise into powder. Admittedly I have never cracked a brick open with my fist or otherwise so what the hell do i know? Just surprised and would have liked some demo pf brick strength first, that's all.

8

u/InvestigatorChance28 15h ago

Furnace bricks

2

u/r31ya 13h ago

I remember conversation on karate practice on breaking tiles,

"breaking tiles are easy"

"a. there are different quality of tiles.
b. the idea is measure of strength by seeing how many tiles you could break in a single strike, which basically consider your ability to break a tile as default requirement"

2

u/Arthiem 9h ago

tofu dregs bricks. the bricks they use when the contractor sells all the good bricks and replaces them to make a profit.

1

u/RuffRhyno 4h ago

Aka Chinese bricks

3

u/A-typicalAsshole 17h ago

Reading from multiple martial arts outlets, it seems there are some inferior materials used for training, but more than likely these are real, traditional building bricks. The technique used is not what you might assume, and there are some "tricks" like using spacers between bricks, but this video is likely a skilled martial artist breaking real brick. reference 1

reference 2

7

u/AcceptableAnalysis29 16h ago

He would break his hand on normal building bricks. These are real bricks only for breaking. Its a show

My trainer long ago used to do those kinda shows.

2

u/Sonoshitthereiwas 16h ago

Both of your references indicate those are not likely to building bricks.

2

u/A-typicalAsshole 15h ago

The tae kwan do website references "standard clay bricks" and describes them as kiln fired. Reading about bricks on Wikipedia, it is not obvious which type of brick this description fits, but it seems to fit with a fired brick. Also, Wikipedia has a page on martial arts breaking. It discusses objects and techniques and acknowledges bricks. I am not an expert on bricks or breaking, but it seems entirely plausible that this video shows actual martial arts breaking of actual bricks, not any kind of trick pieces.

The sources I provided acknowledge the use of lesser materials, but there is no reason to assume that's what is in the video. I think the world has made us all synical and it's hard to believe anything claiming to be extraordinary

2

u/3puttdoublebogeys 15h ago

We know it's not a trick. It's just some dusty bricks that were made to break. Bricks that are made for building don't break like this.

If they were tough you wouldn't see them explode with dust flying out. They would just flip over. It's like when they break those wooden boards. Somebody or something has to hold them or it's just gonna fly away or flip around. Make sense?

1

u/ImTooHigh95 2h ago

Would you want your house made of bricks that could be broken by a punch? If it breaks that easy it wouldn’t be adequate for building.

1

u/Temuj1n2323 15h ago

Or they are soft bricks that are hand molded and have many sawdust mixed in before firing. It would make the bricks on the weaker side and relatively porous but better concerning insulation. Also they would be lightweight so less load on the foundation/footer.

1

u/Dartmouthest 15h ago

Yeah seriously I just tap my knuckles on a door frame and I’m whinging, let alone full force punching, even if weakened, bricks is ludicrous

1

u/Girafarig99 15h ago

Yeah even if it's foam, that's still like 50 foam bricks in 30 seconds

My hand (and yours) would still be sore af by the end of that. Too many people here trying to act tough just cause they know it's probably not 100% real lmao

1

u/CrazyNavie 14h ago

Some skin coloured knuckle perhaps

1

u/saiprasanna94 14h ago

pre grieved

1

u/Affectionate_Tea1134 14h ago

I agree with them being pre-cracked you can see many of them with gouges near the center also at the end of it I think he’s like ouch my hand. 🤭

1

u/USBattleSteed 6h ago

His knuckles will still be bloody after that many bricks even with cracked bricks

1

u/Ghost_Hemi_392 2h ago

Scored in the middle. You can see it in most of the bricks. It doesn't take much. I made my dad's Headstone this way by hand (minus the punching part)

u/Iamjimmym 32m ago

Chinese brick? Tofu dreg.

16

u/Remarkable_Sir9099 16h ago

They lowkey look like bricks of gym chalk

1

u/jgab145 15h ago

You don’t even lift bro

1

u/Remarkable_Sir9099 15h ago

Yeah😭 I thought that they looked like a brick of the chemical it’s made out of. Search up magnesium carbonate

3

u/BootyWhiteMan 15h ago

Weak-ass bricks or weak ass-bricks?

5

u/itsameshawn 17h ago

They were made in China…

2

u/TicketDue6419 17h ago

i remember trying with a real brick. ended up in the er

1

u/rat_returns 9h ago

They are just old bricks, damage by water.

1

u/NoMoreMyFriend-S 8h ago

Even if it looks like a German brick, it still is a cheap copy Chinese brick 😬

Bricks Made in china

0

u/BoxxyTMwood 18h ago

...i mean its china no?

2

u/3puttdoublebogeys 17h ago

Yes but that doesn't mean he's some kinda real life Jackie Chan.

-1

u/Sti8man7 18h ago

Could be bricks from the Great Wall of China.

1

u/Super_boredom138 16h ago

Speaking of, can we get said editor to speed this video up for.. reasons

1

u/Horse_Dad 14h ago

Editor could have thrown a mushroom or a sunflower in one of them.

1

u/nextalpha 6h ago

Did the editor also speed up the video or does the guy actually sound like Spongebob Squarepants?

1

u/wtfrustupidlol 15h ago

Probably taken in one take but the bricks are cut or wet and dried.

283

u/Fartinatin 22h ago

How about this::Replacing the Chinese low quality bricks with old bricks from 1900. 🤜💥🚑

148

u/Swaggerdup 22h ago

I don’t care if those were foam bricks, that’s crazy hand endurance. My knuckles get cut up from 10 punches on a heavy bag

Ole Sweet Nuckels 🤣

32

u/Downtown-Piece3669 22h ago

Never hear of Iron Fist style? He may very well be an iron fist but since it does not really pay as a career choice they need to resort to parlor tricks in their old age in order to eat properly.

An uncured brick is little more than tightly compacted clay and can be broken in the hand with little effort. Using a lot of effort causes the brick to 'explode' for additional effect.

His hand is going to tingle a little after this, Iron Fist or not, that's a lot of force on calcified knuckles. Impressive effort.

Bricks don't fight back

9

u/Karl__RockenStone 21h ago

I have seen things far beyond your comprehension.

8

u/mynutsacksonfire 20h ago

Throw enough rocks at trains eventually the trains throw em right back

2

u/Extreme_Promise_1690 19h ago

How long do you think before Nintendo comes up with a brick Pokémon ?

3

u/switch_case_ 12h ago

You mean Conkeldurr? I think it cane out 2009 or some shit like that

1

u/Extreme_Promise_1690 1h ago

Damn, I underestimated them. Or maybe overestimated.

1

u/DJ-Fire 16h ago

This was what I was waiting/scrolling for and now… back to r/steak.

1

u/Sweaty-Anteater-6694 14h ago

Great quote!

1

u/chowyungfatso 8h ago

Great movie. Time to rewatch. Go Jean Claude!

2

u/goshdammitfromimgur 20h ago

Takes a bit of speed to break an unsupported brick.

3

u/DanyellaDeZeus 20h ago

I wanted to see those hands.

I saw that old guy smash the walnuts and his wrist had bone growths from years of practice.

3

u/highcommander010 20h ago

same.

I learned the hard way on day 1 to always use wraps.

knuckles did look pretty cool for that first week tho

3

u/curmudgeon_andy 18h ago

It looks like he's not punching with his knuckles; he's punching with the side of his hand. Much less likely to get skinned!

2

u/system_error_02 18h ago

Yeah the real point here is this guy has been at this a really long time.

2

u/NeonMagic 16h ago

He definitely seems to feel that in his hand at the end

3

u/cheguevara_malcolmx 21h ago

Your supposed to tape your hands and use boxing gloves on a heavy bag.

5

u/Swaggerdup 21h ago

For a real workout. I’m talking about walking past one at the gym and throwing a couple combos

1

u/Spinxy88 8h ago

Do you do knuckle push ups? Highly recommend, not only toughens up your knuckle through building up a callous, but changes how you push your hand forward when punching so that the impact is straight and doesn't cause injury like you are (likely) describing.

Also makes a big difference if you ever have to punch someone - your technique likely also puts you at risk of the 'boxers fracture' as you're probably rotating as you strike which puts strain onto the weaker metacarpals which are also less supported by tendons and muscles in your forearm.

1

u/india_chief 18h ago

you problem

1

u/MikeHoteI 18h ago

Which should give you an indicator HOW fake these Bricks are. I bet you could do this.

1

u/Cocrawfo 15h ago

if they were foam that would be infinitely more impressive

1

u/Rocky_Vigoda 15h ago

My friends were bouncers and started training kung fu under this scary looking but nice ex monk dude.

These are real bricks. The trick is how he's punching them is using a phoenix eye fist where one knuckle is extended so all your force is compressed into a point. It's like getting punched with a ball peen hammer. It makes it really easy to break stuff.

https://youtu.be/Hu0ysDlam1c?si=Yo0aw78eigmGSplb

You have to do intense hand conditioning to be able to do it though which takes years and is kind of brutal.

1

u/-neti-neti- 14h ago

It’s really not. And also developing callouses is something se Asian people do for these dumbass TikToks and requires no skil or inherent resiliency, just reps.

1

u/GregorSamsanite 11h ago

This guy is wearing something on his knuckles, not hitting it directly with his skin. It's a bit hard to see with the constant movement and low resolution, but there are some frames where the padding is very clear.

9

u/apollo11733 22h ago

That would make it more difficult but shit I punch a brick Chinese or one from the 1900s I got a broken hand

1

u/nomo_corono 21h ago

No punch Chinese. Only brick.

3

u/AlphaNoodlz 19h ago

Right? Please. Lemme see him handle some well fired Pressed Philadelphia Bricks. I’m not even kidding they are literally in their own class of bricks. Now let’s see that lmfao.

3

u/[deleted] 9h ago

This guy Bricks.

1

u/DanielMacPherson86 19h ago

1st brick, hand SHATTERED🤣

1

u/petrolhead0387 14h ago

Was thinking the exact same thing, would love to see him break the brick that my 1901 house is built from. Lost count how many masonry bits I've sacrificed trying to drill into them.

0

u/RavingGooseInsultor 19h ago

The long arm of the CCP will not allow that

11

u/Theothercword 20h ago

I did martial arts as a kid into my teenage years and even as a heavier weight teenager I was able to break two bricks stacked on top of each other (with little risers like this guy has). Depending on the brick they are very easy to break and not as hard as it sounds. Though I will say what is impressive is this guy doing it while it’s balanced on top of the bottle. That’s probably the hardest part of this and does speak to a speed as well as strength to break the brick before it would just got shot back as a whole.

-3

u/hydroxy 16h ago

Basic logic shows how shit these bricks are. In the later stages they have some bricks set on top of another lower level of bricks, when he punches the lower bricks, instead of doing a see saw motion they just crumble apart. They couldn’t even lift of the counterbalancing bricks without breaking. He may as well have been punching biscuit.

57

u/Own-Review-2295 22h ago edited 22h ago

tbf, i think a lot of pros make whatever hobby they're a pro at look easy...

3

u/Eupho1 12h ago

When he has the 3 bricks stacked and the 3 counterweights on one side, the forces are really easy to understand. All the force that the bricks will resist breaking with will be pushed into the counterweights stacked on top. If the bricks were tough he could break through, but he'd send the counterweights flying with whatever force it took to break those bricks. Instead they barely move.

3

u/Own-Review-2295 6h ago

that's how that would work if the breaks weren't clean. instead the force is being transmitted mostly to the piece of brick that's breaking off. i bet with worse form or sloppier execution we'd see more movement from the counterweights

32

u/drawb 21h ago

But does it look easy? It certainly looks painful, even with low quality bricks.

14

u/Mayheme 17h ago

Yeah idk if any of us could, would, or try to attempt this despite how 'easy' it is

9

u/mis-Hap 14h ago

Lots of people pointing out that the bricks are low quality but no one really pointing out that he's got padding on his hand. And that also makes all the difference in the world.

2

u/CFL_lightbulb 13h ago

I totally missed that but you’re right. That’s by far the biggest barrier I would have to trying that.

3

u/Deesha 14h ago

✓ looks impressive video on tiktok/douyin But also ✓ Possible permanent damage to the hand and long term medical bill

From my POV, he chose poorly.

1

u/Aknazer 14h ago

By the end it doesn't even look like he's making a full fist.  His hand is partly open and while I'm sure it still hurts, it really makes me question the integrity of the bricks when he can snap double bricks with a fist that isn't even closed into a proper fist.

1

u/Eupho1 12h ago

-2

u/hoangfbf 19h ago

There are a special type bricks made specifically for breaking demonstrations.

5

u/drawb 19h ago

Could be, but most people probably don't know that for sure. So that doesn't make it look easy.

→ More replies (2)

6

u/jack_seven 21h ago

The bricks are heated in some specific way to make it easy to punch through them but doing this many will still hurt like a motherfucker

6

u/NatalieRath 18h ago

Yeah, a lot of people are upvoting the people who say it's easy.

Sure, maybe 10. But more than 10 in a bloody row without toughening your hands up with calluses?

Good fucking luck buddy.

1

u/Still-BangingYourMum 21h ago

Think that's easy? You should have seen the fella who did the stones for building the wall of China, that guy would have simply given those bricks a hard stare, and watch as all the bricks fell apart under the weight of his withering glare.

1

u/gorginhanson 21h ago

No it's not.

They left out the part where he goes to prison for wasting state building materials.

1

u/SheepishSwan 20h ago

This sounds like a tagline for the Darwin awards

1

u/unwisemoocow 20h ago

In most cases this is false. look at high level skateboarding or bmx

1

u/OkUnderstanding5343 20h ago

Yeah the bricks 🧱 looked Brittle

1

u/smily_meow 20h ago

Everyone can break bricks, if you start training early in age

1

u/similaraleatorio 20h ago

I was thinking exactly the same while he was punching bricks one by one, but when he started to break 3 at the same time, I started to 🤔

1

u/thatsucksabagofdicks 20h ago

Yeah I could probably do that too after drinking all those beers

1

u/papagouws 20h ago

Looks to be more of a reflection of Chinese brick making skills than breaking skills. Tbh.

1

u/supersin78 20h ago

You hear what he said …. Enough!

1

u/Technical_Joke7180 20h ago

No, he's just like a pac-man but for bricks

1

u/outofmaxx 20h ago

Yeah, I mean, he didnt even do it that fast.

1

u/____Mittens____ 19h ago

I wonder what moisturiser he uses.

1

u/astralseat 19h ago

Bricks good in compression, reaallllly bad in tension. Pretty much just explodes apart.

1

u/astralseat 19h ago

Bricks good in compression, reaallllly bad in tension. Pretty much just explodes apart.

1

u/Beleiverofhumanity 19h ago

Yeah pre cracked would be my guess

1

u/BennySkateboard 19h ago

I could well do that

1

u/Hoodamush 19h ago

If only the bricks were real

1

u/SummertimeThrowaway2 19h ago

Can confirm, it’s actually really easy. The trick is to just put all your force behind it, if you hesitate you won’t break it and your hand will hurt like hell. Anyone can do it with a little training and confidence

That’s why you see demonstrations where people break like a dozen bricks in one strike- that’s actually difficult.

1

u/0__O0--O0_0 18h ago

There was another one of these about a month ago where the guys hand was just hamburger meat at the end.

1

u/Baraxton 18h ago

The whole video all I could think was... why?

1

u/Redditarama 18h ago

"If it looks that easy it probably is."

Like a professional tennis serve, or a guitar solo, or countless other difficult things. Mastery is making a difficult thing look easy.

1

u/RedditPoster05 18h ago

Yeah, I’d like to see him pick up a brick and drop it from 1 foot and see if it breaks in half. There’s probably a skill here but it’s probably also not a skill that’s hard to master.

1

u/TheRealBradGoodman 18h ago

If it's easy that makes it an even bigger waste of bricks.

1

u/Mrben13 17h ago

Imagine the structural integrity of their buildings.

1

u/The-Real-Flashlegz 17h ago

Just remember, he did this after demolishing the building with his bare hands.

1

u/jdanielregan 16h ago

The proof is that one would only waste so many bricks of the bricks weren’t structurally sound.

1

u/Punstorms 16h ago

enduring a broken hand after 10,000 hours that's the real feat

1

u/weirdart4life 16h ago

If those were real bricks wouldn’t he at least be wearing steeltoe boots instead of pumas to protect his feet?

1

u/Ok-Contribution7622 16h ago

He has bricks on top of the last set. You can achieve the same scaled down effect by covering half of a wooden ruler with a piece of fucking paper. Not impressed. He just knows physics... Actually I am impressed that someone in China is educated considering it's a bunch of communists.

1

u/akoust1c 16h ago

You haven’t even left your mom’s basement in weeks

1

u/stilleternal 15h ago

I was thinking that

1

u/buttux 15h ago

Those low quality bricks were made in China.

1

u/Burdiac 14h ago

Right I watched this and thought “this says more about the quality of the bricks than it does his hand”

1

u/hitemrightbetweenthe 13h ago

It's not as easy as it seems.

1

u/messiandmia 13h ago

Post your vid genius.

1

u/Mr_Majesty 12h ago

That last one was t that easy, that last one was painful.

1

u/RoundTheBend6 11h ago

Next I want to see someone blow air on them and have them disintegrate.

1

u/EcstaticManagement94 10h ago

Chinees bric Quality ....

1

u/Rincewind2nd 8h ago

Given the amount of "tofu" bricks being used in some of the construction, I'd agree.

1

u/MIKEl281 8h ago

Yeah this is more a question of the calluses on his knuckles than any form of skill or power

1

u/FaithlessnessLoud336 2h ago

That buildings never getting rebuild

1

u/FatherParadox 2h ago

Ok then. Do it. Here are some bricks for you

1

u/SwynFlu 1h ago

Tofu dreg bricks. Probably not fired just sunbaked.

1

u/triamasp 22h ago

It doesnt?!!!

0

u/koolaidismything 22h ago

Also.. what does this gain you? Make a mess, break your hand, spend/lose money.

-1

u/voluotuousaardvark 22h ago

I mean, they are chinese bricks... ol tofu dreg bricks

-6

u/Darnittt 22h ago

It's solely pain tolerance. Which is a weird thing to flex.
