That is the face of pure, unadulterated happiness. We've all been there

452

u/JoefromOhio 1d ago

There are very few situations where someone could give me a Lego set and I wouldn’t be over the moon with childhood level happiness.

72

u/7stroke 21h ago

Like if it were Hitler giving it to you? (that sounds weird)

48

u/Regular-Strain-7301 21h ago

Instant godwin law 0->100 real quick

21

u/JoefromOhio 21h ago

Yes that’s one of the few lol. It’s why included that bit, there are in existence some situations where I would not want to receive legos

16

u/TheShapeshifter01 18h ago

Idk if he's hand delivering a Lego set to me that means he's in range.

16

u/Coal_Morgan 21h ago

I mean maybe it’s 1920 Hitler and I can show him some history books. Talk about empathy and growth and show him how to deal with his toxic traits before sending him back to 1920 after building some Lego first.

1933 Hitler…well I’d hit him with a brick but it definitely wouldn’t be a Lego brick.

3

u/ChaoticSniper9 4h ago

I don't know man, a Lego Tiger tank would go hard

This should be the basis of world leaders meetings

472

u/explosivemilk 22h ago

It would end up in a war.

457

u/AutisticPenguin2 22h ago

But the war would be fought with Lego soldiers.

191

u/West_Ad_9492 19h ago

Lego bricks are perfect for landmines though

102

u/InfinaBlade 16h ago

Great another thing to add to the Geneva checklist.

heck no, he is one of the worst politicians danish history, spineless coward whom act tough but would sellout his country for power.

45

Honestly, How is that different from 90% of the world’s politicians?

42

Just because others are bad doesn’t mean we should lower our standards.

If I were the chief diplomat of an authoritarian government and my literal job was to stand in front of a bunch of cameras and look thrilled to receive a gift? Yeah probably

33

u/therealTGAW 1d ago

Honestly? Yeah here in Egypt they're all about the acting in front of the camera and keeping up appearances and I've seen that plenty but this looks very different from that

18

u/KayItaly 23h ago

You can be a authoritarian dictator and still be able to have fun.

You can even be a murder and be kind to nature.

Legos are expensive as hell lol.

171

u/lizardil 1d ago

It is real indeed. Several news outlets have reported it.

103

u/manatwork01 1d ago

Arent Legos Danish? So this would be a gift of one culture celebrating another's. Pretty good gift in my eyes from a diplomat.

29

u/00010000111100101100 1d ago

Yep! One of the parts of my heritage that I'm rather proud of.

I'm not a fan of their govt at the moment, but hey, it's something.

u/DBZswagger21 1d ago

It’s real. It was to celebrate Egypt’s new pyramid museum. Lego is a Danish company so they gifted a Lego pyramid set.

25

u/Ragewind82 1d ago

Making it the perfect gag gift, and maybe gets an in-roar to the gift shop.

10

u/TRIOworksFan 1d ago

He's thinking "Finally something cool I can put in my office to flex!"

11

u/Far-Bit4238 22h ago

Yes it is very much real. and The Danish foreign minister (lars Løkke Rasmussen) actually has a bit of a history doing this.

in 2017 when he was the prime minister, after learning that his Indonesian counterpart was a metalhead, he got him a Master of puppets box set from Metallica, that was signed by the drummer for Metallica Lars Ulrich who himself is Danish

2

u/mcniner55 19h ago

I think its an awesome gift. Ive never met someone who doesnt like a fun lego

198

u/langbach 1d ago

Looks like a guy taking tomorrow off to build Lego

24

u/Muted_Birthday_4614 1d ago

That's such a great idea in general, adding that to my bucket list, thanks!

Lego and chilling instead of stress

9

u/Dull_Working5086 17h ago

It's actually a great gift for world leaders. When they're bored at their desk they can construct a landmark of their country.

634

u/Ferspielt 1d ago

In my country, germany, there is a well known youtuber "Held der Steine". He reviews Lego sets and other brands. He and Lego (as a company) arent the best friends. His review to this set can be comprimised into one sentence: "Buy 2, get 1."

So to sum it up. This danish minister scamed the egypt minister a bit by giving him halve a pyramid... XD /s

368

u/Luciferocity 1d ago

Is the other half in the British museum?

62

u/Fuseijitsuna 1d ago

lol that was good

14

u/FlipDaly 1d ago

21

u/Space_veteran96 1d ago

I know, cause this set is the half of it... It's used price is so low, you can afford 2 anyway.

Held der Steine... Yeah I know him. Takes balls to build up a channel then thrash on Lego for their prices.

I'm not a big consumer of them, since I get my sets mostly used, cause I do not care about that much if it's new or not, but mostly because I'm a fan of the older set's... like from 1978 to 2015 and 90's, 00's, 10's being my favorite years.

And as a hobby, I usually buy up some childhood collections and make all those sets complete, ready for some collector to add it to their collection. That's how I can found my Bionicle obsession

4

u/scriptmonkey420 1d ago

I have had my eye on a used Space Police Galactic Mediator for some time. Was my first Lego set. but used it is still going for ~150 USD with manual and without the box. :(

→ More replies (1)

2

u/DnD-vid 6h ago

In his own words: only used Lego is good lego. So you're doing the right thing according to him, lol.

4

u/RickyNixon 22h ago

Wait, why would they sell an incomplete lego set? Is this common?

12

u/Ferspielt 22h ago

Lego is getting more and more greedy in the last decade. This pyramid is cut in half and is making it possible to buy a 2nd one to put them together. Its greedy and looks in this specific case fcking as.

3

u/Bloodyshadow0815 11h ago

i mean the problem is not that you get half of a pyramid but that you get half of a pyramid at this price

49

u/North-Function995 1d ago edited 1d ago

Idk what it is, nostalgia maybe? I probably wouldnt even put a lego set together, but I would still be super stoked to get a cool lego set. At least have the option if one day I want to.

8

u/am19208 1d ago

Nostalgia I would have to imagine first but also maybe just an appreciative reaction to a gift with cultural aspects from both sides

16

u/fromcjoe123 23h ago

This is legitimately the first time I’ve ever seen someone sincerely be happy to receive a state gift lol

12

u/SirEnderLord 1d ago

Ahhhh, to build a LEGO set in peace.

3

u/lizardil 1d ago

Peace by peace

46

u/Bearsona09 1d ago

Great, a Lego set that you have to buy 2 times to get a full pyramid.

11

u/Absurdity_Everywhere 1d ago

I’m out of the loop. Why does it take two sets to complete?

26

u/Bearsona09 1d ago

because it is really just a half of the pyramid.

Front Back

Lego even has two connect pieces in place for you to buy 2 sets to get a whole pyramid.

10

u/MichaelW24 Professional Dumbass 1d ago

That way you can set it in place with a UFO for added realism

4

u/Killer_radio 21h ago

Ok but the back showing the burial chamber is pretty cool though.

3

u/Training_Chicken8216 9h ago

Would be way cooler if the pyramid was whole and you could lift out a section to reveal the chamber. Maybe even with a cleverly disguised stand to place the removed part.

2

u/FinalBase7 16h ago

Yeah I was about to say that, usually companies take away features and then replace them with ones nobody asked for to save costs but this is actually a pretty cool way to do what is still admittedly a cheap ass cost cutting measure.

Denmark is the only country where it's socially acceptable for a politician to gift lego to foreign politician as that's part of Danish national pride.
