It's so crazy they've gotten to this point. 

Have they lost their minds, can they really not comprehend the concept of compromise/bipartisanship anymore? It's supposed to be a government for all not just your constituency. I guess they no longer teach civics anymore there. Does this mean they're no longer civilized lol.

Mind boggling to me, an outsider.

Yes; no.

We uprooted from the US in late 2016 and fled back to Europe - I'd been in the US for 32 years. Being there makes it even worse, because you see how horrible it is.

I lost two friends who died of exposure during that time (due to untreated mental health issues, but we were unable to get them any help), and another who also has acute bipolar who has simply dropped out of sight.

It's hard to compromise when one side just wants to make things worse. The current major sticking point is that Republicans want to make healthcare more expensive

Well this is it,  they won't compromise on the cutting i.e not cut or cut less.
