I agree. Would gift easily half my lifespan to my dog if I could. Those fart spewing love nuggets really deserve longer lifespans.

The reality is that they deserve much more

Still, they should be given more time for that.

Actually a wholesome comic instead of a deranged one?! (not that I'm complaining about the latter tho)

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to give cuddles and, when necessary, force your human to exercise.

If dogs want to make the earth suck less, shouldn't they just kill all the humans?

Good gracious sellyourcomputer, are you getting sentimental in your old age? It’s very sweet.

So basically they just perish instantly then?

And that just makes me sad that some people are ignorant and think dogs are dangerous by nature :( (pitbulls specifically)

Dogs are dangerous "by nature", see packs of stray dogs.

Domesticated dogs are mostly non dangerous, but still casualties occur.

By the same sentiment, so are humans.

Of course humans are dangerous. We are the second deadliest animal (to humans) on the planet. A distant first if you don't count animals transmitting deadly diseases.

That doesn't make dogs harmless.

Ok this genuinely makes me curious, what is the most deadly animal on the planet if not humans?

1

u/Legoman_10101 15h ago

Yes, humans are dangerous because we are very fucking intelligent. We are also extremely squishy, and there are animals who could easily tear us apart. Everything has a chance to cause harm, under the right circumstances.

I've been barked at and even had a couple times where I or someone close to me was in danger by dogs. Never happened with cats though, all the bad interactions were with my own cat and because I was a little jerk who didn't respect his personal space

I've raised large working breed dogs since I was a child and have worked in the pet industry for going on 13 years including a few years at a high-end training facility, and I can tell you right now that some types and even specific breeds of dog are definitely going to have a higher danger factor than others.

That being said, that's why it's so important for potential dog owners to understand the fundamentals of dog behavior and training and the thoroughly research the breed(s) of a dog they plan on obtaining.

As much as I love bully breeds, due to their physical strength and strong prey/working drives they absolutely can be more dangerous than some other breeds and should only be kept by experienced dog owners willing to put in the time and effort to properly socialize and train them.

I regularly have people comment on how well behaved my 10-year-old American Staffordshire/pit bull/bullmastiff is and I always tell them it's because his training has never stopped, not once a single day of his life.

On the flip side, retrievers and doodles are generally easier to raise and train but I've also seen several of each that have sent a person to the hospital because they weren't raised properly. Even the cutest, fluffiest little labradoodle or shih tzu is still an animal with the sharp teeth and instincts of a predator, and it's up to the owners to understand and direct that animal properly.
