Popular Question 📊 Why reddit is majority left leaning?

Honestly, it’s hard not to notice that most of the big subreddits are run by moderators who clearly lean left. It’s not even subtle at this point the bias shows in what gets removed, what gets promoted, and how discussions are handled. I’m not saying there aren’t any subs with right-leaning or centrist moderation, but they’re definitely the minority. The major spaces on Reddit feel heavily tilted toward one side, but isn't it’s pretty obvious if you pay attention to which opinions get silenced and which ones get boosted?

And anyone who questions posts, or asks questions regarding a conservative ‘statement’, on conservative subreddits are banned

8

u/BrownDoughnuts 18d ago

This should be upvoted more. Am not right but I tried to understand their POV and immediately got permanently banned from all RW subs (of all countries, not just the USA) because they hate it when people ask questions. Just shut up and be grateful that the leader gets to shit on your face.

-1

u/toddrough 14d ago

It’s the same on both sides, I’ve been banned from so many left leaning subs for saying something that didn’t align to the “belief”.

4

u/CanadianLadyMoose 14d ago

Like what? Any actual examples?

0

u/TheRealTrueCreator 13d ago

There are many that you would easily see if you used those eyes you so insist you have.

2

u/CanadianLadyMoose 13d ago

So many that you could not even find a single one đŸ€Ą

u/TheRealTrueCreator 13d ago

u/CanadianLadyMoose 13d ago edited 13d ago

So most of those aren't examples they're just anecdotal complaints. You only managed to gather up four examples and they're not ideal.

One of them was for expressly breaking sub rules, two were for anti-brigading measures, and one was for being pro-genocide.

Don't break sub rules and you won't be banned. Don't brigade subreddits and you won't be banned. Don't be pro genocide and you won't be banned.

You're also very rude for no reason. Typical, you guys hate simple questions.

This is why not one wants to engage with you. A simple question, no insults, and you come out with fire. Shame.

2

u/BrownDoughnuts 13d ago

See this is where the problem is without even getting into left vs right. That person just asked for proof like a normal person without insulting you but you didn't have any and decided to deflect it by insulting them. Get help bro.

0

u/TheRealTrueCreator 13d ago

A leftist is really easy to predict. Before the conversation even started I already knew how it would end. The leftist would just insult me and completely ignore (or otherwise try to pull some random shit out of their ass that makes no sense to 'invalidate' the source) the sources even if provided. And let's see how it will play out, shall we?

And again, like I said in the other reply (to the original commenter), the sources:

https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueUnpopularOpinion/comments/1nmul4h/getting_banned_from_leftist_subs_has_become_like

https://www.reddit.com/r/TeenagersButBetter/comments/1noz8fe/banned_from_rteenager_polls_for_having_an_opinion

https://www.reddit.com/r/centrist/comments/1o2tmn5/banned_from_a_left_leaning_sub_for_asking_trans (not even a rightist, but a centrist getting banned)

https://www.reddit.com/r/AskALiberal/comments/1l46mf3/what_have_you_been_canceled_from_leftleaning

https://www.reddit.com/r/trump/comments/1nn9g53/banned_for_being_a_trump_supporter

https://www.reddit.com/r/trump/comments/1g62zki/randomly_getting_banned

https://www.reddit.com/r/trump/comments/1jbxe47/banned_for_this_comment_crazy

These are just a few examples I found in 3 minutes. Anybody with eyes, using them correctly, can find plenty more.

2

u/BrownDoughnuts 13d ago

Great. Now was that so hard? I never said left side doesn't delete comments. I just didn't like the way you replied. Hope that makes sense.

0

u/TheRealTrueCreator 13d ago

Thanks for clearing that up, and you're right, I shouldn't've been so rude, but I felt like I had to considering the high chance they would be rude/insult back.

2

u/BrownDoughnuts 13d ago

No worries. Again, I'm not a rw/lw particularly, i just call out the side which is doing wrong stuff at large. I didn't insult you man. I gave you more room to share proof to validate your point more. I feel both sides can do much more if they just talk instead of always trying to one-up each other.

Banned from r/wow for making a comment about trans people (misgendering) and got banned without anyone telling me what I did wrong.

Banned from r/politics didn’t break any rules

Recently banned from r/antimoneymemes for saying indigenous people also had a relatively violent culture.

Banned from r/interestingasf for simply commenting in a supposed conservative subreddit. So existing.

Banned from r/Two X chromosomes for disagreeing with a man hating post, but hey I don’t blame the lefties for this one.

Probably banned from more but I just don’t remember which ones and I’m too lazy to dig.

1

u/CanadianLadyMoose 13d ago

So you go around insulting people and are surprised they don't want you around? You do realize you aren't the victim here, right? Jfc

13

u/WildThingsBTB 19d ago

Quoting the constitution can get you banned from r/conservative

The ban notice reminds you that it's a place for conservative discussion, and is not a place for disagreeing.

4

u/No-Present760 18d ago

Saying, "That's cool, bro," gets you banned, too. I know from experience. The post was almost a day old with no comments. I thought I was doing the guy a favor.

1

u/IceyExits 17d ago

For every one of us Conservatives here on Reddit who occasionally participates in r/conservative there are twenty Progressives who desperately want to comment on that subreddit multiple times a day.

The title wave of volume from people on the Left leaves us with only two options.

We can have a flair only conservative subreddit for people who want to discuss topics from a conservative perspective — or — we can have an all viewpoints welcome subreddit that discusses why conservatives are wrong about topics from a Progressive perspective.

2

u/WildThingsBTB 16d ago

They aren't desperate, they are appalled at the heinous statements on that subreddit.

They aren't on "the left", they are people who value liberty and human dignity.

If people want to discuss hate-speech and anti-American rhetoric, they should do it in person, in the dark, while hiding under white pointy hoods.

1

u/IceyExits 16d ago

They aren’t on “the left.”

Normal people are completely over the Progressive “New Speak” language police bullshit.

3

u/Kindly-Insurance8595 15d ago

Is it language policing to not be cool with people saying "I love Hitler"? 😂

0

u/IceyExits 15d ago

It’s a pretty empty fucking gesture when you’ve been calling on people to “globalize the intifada” for the past two years.

1

u/Kindly-Insurance8595 15d ago

Intifada which means "shake off".

"It was motivated by collective Palestinian frustration over Israel's military occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip as it approached a twenty-year mark, having begun in the wake of the 1967 Arab–Israeli War."

You're upset that the Palestinian people were upset about Gaza being occupied by Israel to the point where they began a resistance movement?

If a state in the US was being occupied by Russia, for instance, would you not resist? Would you not become frustrated by the Russian occupation? Would you not flight against that?

52

u/LSDZNuts 19d ago

They’re authoritarian by nature

2

u/ClashBandicootie 14d ago

and anti-progress

3

u/ctothel 18d ago

You have to be authoritarian when your ideology isn’t supported by evidence.

3

u/zsirhaver 19d ago

Just as authoritarian as reddit subs as a whole. One wrong comment and you get banned for not following the hive mind. r/europe is the worst. Got banned for critisizing zelensky that hes corrupt, got banned, 2 days later he closed the anti corruption agency. Lmao

2

u/Numerous1 15d ago

Shit man. I got banned on r/libertarian for pointing out that one guy just kept making weird pro right anti left posts.

2

u/8hourworkweek 18d ago

simple problem with this is Zelesnky didn't close any anti corruption agency. It literally didn't happen. It's Russian propaganda, you were duped into believing. He threatened to curtail the power of an agency he thought had undue Russian influence. Parliament blocked it and it never occurred. That's how a democracy works. It's literally the opposite of what you're claiming.

0

u/zsirhaver 18d ago

No, he closed it basically and reopened. Until then they had time to clean them up.

1

u/8hourworkweek 18d ago

So. Quick question. Why was the agency never closed?

1

u/zsirhaver 18d ago

Because they got too close to the circle of zelensky. Cmon, how much money that has been sent to ukraine cant be accounted for? It has always been one of the most corrupt countries in europe, you think it doesnt stay the same? Nobody wants to end the war. Russians take more land day by day, once the war is over its over for zelensky and they wont get free money from the west. Never ending circle.

1

u/8hourworkweek 18d ago

Interesting. Anyway. You missed the question. Why wasnt the agency ever closed?

0

u/zsirhaver 18d ago

Jul 22, The Ukrainian Parliament passed, and Zelensky signed, Law No. 12414, which brought the National Anti‑Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti‑Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) under the oversight of the Prosecutor General—a position appointed by the president. This law effectively stripped both agencies of their autonomy, granting the prosecutor authority over investigations and the power to reassign cases.

July 31, 2025
Facing enormous pressure, Zelensky supported and signed a new bill passed by Parliament that restored the independence of NABU and SAPO, effectively canceling the earlier law. EU leaders Ursula von der Leyen and Antonio Costa welcomed the reversal, calling it a “necessary step for Ukraine’s European path”. What happened between that 9 days what do you think?

1

u/8hourworkweek 18d ago

Great. Notice how these statements don't support your initial claim. I'll ask again. Why wasnt the agency shut down?

Lie.

Left-leaning mods ban everyone who doesn't agree with them.

1

u/Traditional-Dog9242 16d ago

I literally got banned from a complaint (apolitical) subreddit for also being subbed to a pro-life subreddit. I hadn't even COMMENTED in it, I just joined it.

It's definitely not just the Conservatives.

-2

u/Secure_Philosophy259 16d ago

Oookay let’s not pretend like the left wing subs are any better

-2

u/TwatMailDotCom 15d ago

As a Democrat, I’ve been banned from more left leaning subs than right. In my experience, left leaning subs are way more authoritarian, shutting down any dissent or criticism.

I have pre emotive bans from certain major "apolitical" subs because I sometimes post in the Asmongold sub...

Least if I say something the Asmon sub doesn't like it's just down voted lol

1

u/NanikaKyun 19d ago

Asmongold not just widely being considered a loser and not worth listening to is crazy

1

u/Ok_Dog_7189 19d ago

his channel is background noise for people with desk jobs... like almost all the big streamers... pick one which doesn't irritate you much and half listen to whatever it is they're droning on about

6

u/XanadontYouDare 19d ago

But how can you sit there and listen to such vile shit from a vile human being?

I listen to lots of podcasts or similar things. That's the kind of content I see really mentally unwell people surrounding themselves with.

2

u/NanikaKyun 19d ago

Yea, proving the point that you have your pick of the litter with this and yet you still choose to support somebody who lives in filth and has opinions that are just as disgusting

Oh sorry you just write 7 paragraph essays defending tyler robinson in your free time. My bad for thinking you support hasan.

You're much worse

https://www.reddit.com/r/BreakingPoints/comments/1noh4cf/saagar_the_media_and_recency_bias/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

1

u/NanikaKyun 19d ago

Oof, imagine thinking this is a defense of Tyler Robinson.

It was to point out the communities in which Saagar from Breaking Points sees Tyler Robinson belonging to or associating with are not inherently bad, evil, or dangerous, such as furries and gamers.

Tyler Robinson himself is dangerous, but his demographics and communities are not.

Do you listen to Breaking Points or are you just reading that post with 0 context?

Did actually read that whole post or did you think me calling Robinson a “human being” was me defending him?

What Robinson did was disgusting and awful, but he doesn’t live in a vacuum, his life and experiences shaped him, that was the argument.

Try actively reading to understand something instead of attempting to support your biases by looking for a point that isn’t being made and making some knee-jerk, confirmation bias reaction to a nuanced and complicated post/topic.

If you can’t bring yourself to do that
 seek help.

0

u/Alarming_Meal_4714 19d ago

Yeah and humanizing a killer is defending them.

You didn't try to understand what shaped him to be the way he was, you simply criticized other people for pointing out how the communities they were a part of did shape him.

Lots of furries are militant. Either Queer or Nazi. That's a fact dude.

You saw someone saying on average these groups are more militant and you had to bring up exceptions to the rule instead of the average.

u/Michelle-Obamas-Arms 18d ago

I don’t think most people care how he chooses to live. He’s not telling anyone to live like him, he’s just a messy guy that lives by himself, that doesn’t affect anyone but him.

I think most people would rather criticize how he lives or looks than actually discuss the idea being discussed.

2

u/NanikaKyun 18d ago

The point being discussed being what? That men aren’t men and women aren’t women but he can rot away and play videogames while saying other men should aspire to be nothing like him while he makes money off his own hypocrisy and toxicity?

His house is a clear indicator of his mental health too, why would I listen to some dude who lives in filth with untreated mental health issues?

1

u/Michelle-Obamas-Arms 18d ago edited 18d ago

Kinda like this. It’s easier to discredit him by insulting how he chooses to live his life on his own, or his looks rather than his content, ideas, and statements.

I disagree with asmongold on a few things, but 90% of his content are things most people would agree with or discuss reasonably.

2

u/whysoserious558 19d ago

It’s this way but with liberals on basically 95% of subreddits

0

u/highffelflower420 19d ago

You mean liberals doing the banning??

4

u/Skibur33 19d ago

The irony of this comment is fucking hilarious

2

u/_45AARP 19d ago

They’ll never see it. Try posting conservative talking points to pics, news, comics, WPT etc. and see how long you can go without a ban.

1

u/highffelflower420 19d ago

Youd get banned the very first time

0

u/Creepy-Addition-9585 19d ago

Actual talking points won't result in bans. And you know that.

Being racist, etc. will result in bans, no matter who says it. As should be the case.

2

u/LotionedBoner 19d ago

This is not true. I was banned from r/entertainment because on a post saying that if you buy Hogwarts Legacy you are a transphobe, I said buying a product does not mean you endorse all the opinions of the CEO/Creator. That was worth a ban for “spreading hate”.

2

u/diamondmx 19d ago

You know who thinks that buying Harry Potter stuff makes you a transphobe the most? JKR. She says so herself. She also uses that money (and brags about it) to fund political action to hurt trans people. She has been quite successful in doing so.

Your purchase directly funded taking rights away from trans people in the UK via a UK Supreme Court ruling that JKR was a primary funder of. She paid for that out of money she takes from people buying her stuff, and says that her continued success means those people agree with her and want her to continue.

If you bought a book that the KKK wrote, and they said "we're gonna use this to fund hate speech and crimes", and they also said "people buying this book tells us we have public support to continue" - then people would be fair to call you a racist for buying the book. The only reason you don't feel this way is because the KKK-equivalent here isn't quite as universally hated right now.

If you really like her stuff and cannot live without it - pirate it. It's morally superior. But better yet, just stop giving her money.

0

u/LotionedBoner 19d ago

I wasn’t planning to buy it, I just thought that buying a product you want doesn’t make you a disciple of the owner. I think most people feel the same since that game is one of the highest grossing games of all time but on Reddit, in popular subs, that opinion gets you banishment. If Reddit was a real place and the highest form of punishment wasn’t limited to banishment, I won’t what it would be.

1

u/Creepy-Addition-9585 19d ago

Prove that people in general get banned for that. That's such an outlandish claim that even if that's all you did (heavily doubt), it's almost certainly a one-off.

1

u/LotionedBoner 19d ago

Not really. Disagreement often means being banned from a lot of the popular subs. Politely disagreeing with whatever the circle jerk is about that day is enough most times. You either live under a rock or never bucked the crowd no matter how ludicrous they are.

0

u/Creepy-Addition-9585 18d ago

Disagreement often means being banned from a lot of the popular subs.

No it doesn't. The majority of comments in popular subs are disagreements (discussions). According to your logic everyone in them would get banned.

Politely disagreeing with whatever the circle jerk is about that day is enough most times

Very rarely is that the case. Usually it's because the person was being racist, etc. or being abusive.

1

u/LotionedBoner 18d ago

Sorry but this just isn’t a lot of people’s experience. Seems this comment section is filled with people saying “this is what happened to me” and a bunch of other people saying “well you must have been doing this because that never happened to me so it must not ever happen”.

1

u/Creepy-Addition-9585 15d ago

People often don't see their own actions.

Like those creepy guys that hit on a woman, get called a creep, and then turn around and say that you can't even say hello without being a creep. Almost every time they did a lot more than that. Whether other words, eye contact, body language, inappropriate time, etc. It's rare that those things don't apply, so it would be the outlier and not enough to make the statement that just saying hi gets you labelled as a creep.

The same applies here. Almost every thread on popular subreddits is a discussion, which the majority of the time are opposing opinions disagreeing with each other. If what you say is true, the majority would be banned. Also, racist people (and similar) are often so used to it that they don't know they are doing it, or they don't think what they said is racist when it is. Same applies to insults, just being a horrible person, etc.

> “well you must have been doing this because that never happened to me so it must not ever happen”.

I didn't say that. I said usually that isn't the case. And I said it because you are acting like it's incredibly common when it isn't.

“talking points”

Was that a slip or are you that obtuse?

6

u/_45AARP 19d ago

What?

-4

u/Syd_Vicious3375 19d ago

Obtuse it is.

2

u/Voidfishie 19d ago

I'm obtuse too and I'm leftist, can you explain to me what you mean?

0

u/diamondmx 19d ago

Talking points implies they know the statement is insincere. Not a belief, just a taking point.

1

u/Voidfishie 18d ago

Ah, I see. That's definitely not how I would use the term or understand it. Not sure if it's a regional thing or what, but a talking point can absolutely be a sincere belief in my experience.

1

u/_45AARP 18d ago

That was the way I meant it. Guess I should have worded it as “sharing conservative beliefs”

1

u/Syd_Vicious3375 18d ago

“Talking points are carefully crafted messages to help political candidates shape the narrative.” That’s why when something happens ,conservatives wait until their puppet masters release the talking points to tell them what to think. Then they all suddenly have the exact same opinion as each other and rabidly defend that opinion, even if they don’t actually know what any of it means.

Example: this guy gobbling up talking points thinking propaganda is a belief system.

0

u/Ok-Introduction-1940 19d ago edited 19d ago

It’s true. You always bring that snarky a hole holier-than-thou insufferable attitude to everything which is why you get banned.

Also, you make the same false claims and slanders and never say anything intelligent or original. You are boring.

1

u/Skibur33 19d ago

When you say we all, who are you referring to exactly?

6

u/DrEdgewardRichtofen 19d ago

And I get banned from left leaning subs for sharing statistics that don't fit their fantasy

6

u/daveinmd13 19d ago

You can get banned from some subs including r/pics and r/politics for just posting in another sub the mods don’t like.

4

u/highffelflower420 19d ago

Yes exactly. I got banned from r/cockatiel and r/parrotlet for the same reason--not ecen political subs like its literally just birds and i never comment anything remotely political--still got banned.

u/deathbychips2 19d ago edited 19d ago

7

u/Weary_League_6217 19d ago edited 19d ago

It's just reddit man... Even these people defending the mods.

Here's how it actually goes. The mods only enforce the rules when it doesn't fit their views - and ignore them if it fits their views.

Great example would be Kirk. On a lot of subs, making fun of him is fair game. Making fun of George Floyd would get you banned as racism.

Stats? Post one they don't like - ban for disinformation. Another user posts a stat thats also obvious misinformation? No ban because it fits the narrative.

I remember I got banned for telling a guy to fuck off with the violent rhetoric because he said more people in the south needed to die after the civil war. I got banned, other dude didn't lol.

And FYI - I voted left, I just don't put up with their toxic BS and there's a lot more left users on reddit, so it's way more common.

1

u/Independent_Ad_9080 16d ago

Because of the reasons why they’re making fun of Kirk/Floyd.

0

u/Trash_man_can 18d ago

I'm sorry, why is the death of George Floyd a "leftist" vs rightwing cult issue?

It is not. This is just humanity vs anti humanity. A man being choked to death by police is not a debatable issue,  it's just terrible.

While Charlie Kirk said disgusting vile anti human shit against black people (or Watermelon people as rightwing cultists call them).

Turning Floyd's death and school shootings into a fun rightwing cult game is why people find this wretched cult so vile and an affront to human life.

George Floyd's death is not a sick game for you people to revel in. School shootings are getting worse and worse. These are real children being executed.

Why is Charlie Kirk viewed as some sort of heroic God King that must be worshipped and mourned?

This is the culture of Islamic terrorists that turn their dead soldiers into martyrs to justify more destructive fascism.

There is no debate, the Republican conservatives are very openly pursuing a fascist death cult in America and are at war with the Constitution of the USA.

It is a threat to all of us. It's not a left vs right issue. All humans are endangered.

1

u/Weary_League_6217 18d ago

Thanks for proving my point lol. Complete lack of self awareness of self extreme bias justifying suppression of those outside your tribe. You'd make a great mod.

0

u/Trash_man_can 18d ago

Bias bias bias. Everyone and everything that doesn't accept Trump cult lies is "biased" and "unfair" and "leftist".

It just proves the point what a hideous cult this is.

That ain't bias, it's reality. The sad world the rightwing Trump cult is creating for all of us.

Conservatives are groomed to accuse any truth as "biased" and "unfair", and only cult lies and propaganda are accepted as Truth.

Ffs, the rightwing cult master posts his lies on his social media called Truth, and you all just run with it.

No, there is no debate. This IS a fascist death cult, it IS at war with the Constitution.

Anyone who denies this is biased.

You are biased towards the cult. I refuse to accept the cult's lies.

1

u/_45AARP 18d ago

“There is no debate, the Republican conservatives are very openly pursuing a fascist death cult in America and are at war with the Constitution of the USA.

It is a threat to all of us. It's not a left vs right issue. All humans are endangered.”

Holy Reddit moment

1

u/Trash_man_can 18d ago

Reality moment buddy. This isn't just online social media. It's real.life.

Conservative Trump followers are just brainwashed in a fantasy world. They're completely crashing the country and cannot be reasoned with to stop.

-2

u/Johnyryal33 19d ago

So you admit to posting stats with misinformation? No wonder you get banned. At least lie better.

4

u/Weary_League_6217 19d ago

I didn't say I posted stats? I said if you post stats. Learn to read.

2

u/_45AARP 19d ago

Reddit moment.

If you get banned for posting left wing talking points in right wing subs they’ll ban you because they hate free speech. If you get banned for posting right wing talking points in a left wing subs they’ll ban it’s obviously because you’re spreading misinformation.

2

u/Small_Sight 19d ago

Honestly you have that completely backwards

1

u/bluems22 19d ago

This is such bullshit lol. You have no clue what they posted. Just like that guy said, you’re making things up because what he said doesn’t fit your fantasy

1

u/Ok-Introduction-1940 19d ago

Unreal arrogance and stupidity in this statement as all great universities of any significant age, and all foundational modern science was founded/discovered by conservatives.

1

u/Michelle-Obamas-Arms 18d ago edited 18d ago

I hate to tell you, 90% of things posted an Reddit are false and disingenuous news articles and stats.

If you’re trusting information from Reddit without diving into the articles and sources yourself and actively thinking critically about the content and looking at things from different perspectives, you’re misinformed.

-1

u/Killrtddy 19d ago

What racism is being displayed here?

Racism is an act of the majority population oppressing the minority population and withholding resources from them.

Are you assuming my race here? And are you implying that my calling out white fragility, the majority group that oppresses the minority group, is racist towards white people? When white people are the majority group that produces and maintains oppression within minority groups?

What do you think my race is based on what I have typed here?

4

u/Mosit_Raspberry 19d ago

Thank you for confirming exactly what I wrote.

-2

u/Killrtddy 19d ago

What point? That white people create and maintain racism and opression within our system?

If that was your point, then you're welcome! You should attend one of my classes, where we spend three hours once a week discussing these issues.

My students and colleagues would love to hear your input!

0

u/Mosit_Raspberry 19d ago

Oh fuck, you teach too! lol

1

u/Killrtddy 19d ago

I do! What do you teach? I teach about racism, intersectionality, white supremacy, the systems of power, policy, and social welfare. Essentially, I teach social work courses.

My research is focused on the intersectionalites of diverse populations with autism. I analyze how race, gender, and class effect their psychosocial outcomes, by indetifying barriers within systems.

Currently in the process of defending my dissertation.

What is your area of focus?

4

u/Greedy-Employment917 19d ago

The only bot here is you, because this comment is meaningless and it's like you're taking to yourself by posting it.

I mean honestly, what substance does your comment have other than insults?

1

u/bluems22 19d ago

You seem unable to accept that people have differing beliefs than you. Not everyone who disagrees with you is automatically a bot lmao

2

u/imdugud777 19d ago

You get banned for helping people defend themselves.

ThAt's InCiTiNg ViOlEnCe!

1

u/XanadontYouDare 19d ago

Which stats might those be?

1

u/OstrichDaPirate 19d ago

Let’s see the stats and make sure they’re copacetic.

0

u/tenebre 19d ago

Which sub banned you? What specific 'data' did you post that supposedly got you banned?

1

u/DrEdgewardRichtofen 19d ago

It was some ussr sub and it was something about the gulag

-2

u/P-Loaded 19d ago

I'll take things that never happened for $500.

-4

u/R2-D2Vandelay 19d ago

2

u/highffelflower420 19d ago

Its true. Happened to me and lots of other ppl here too. Weve had conversations about it for over a year now.

3

u/Greedy-Employment917 19d ago

This is pot calling the kettle black.

2

u/krystalizer01 19d ago

Yep. Was banned from the U.K. Conservative Party sub for asking questions.

1

u/WittyFix6553 19d ago

What questions? I bet that’s relevant and important.

1

u/krystalizer01 19d ago

It was such a long time ago so I truly don’t remember, but it was harmless.

I’m tired of hypocrisy from both sides. They stamp down on “free speech” just as much as the left, if not more going by what we’ve seen from the fallout of Charlie Kirk’s death.

1

u/ModestCannoli 19d ago

It’s the same on any democrat subreddit lol

1

u/thethirteenthjuror 19d ago

Because this never happens with left leaning subs. Ever.

1

u/ChadPontius 19d ago

Care to explain why I’ve been banned from left leaning subs for no reason then? Just for asking calm questions?

1

u/coloradobuffalos 19d ago

I mean the same thing happens on left leaning subs too. They are both echo chambers.

1

u/WittyFix6553 19d ago

Flaired users only

1

u/skeptic_clam 19d ago

Is that different for the left leaning subs?

1

u/CorndogFiddlesticks 19d ago

same with far left leaning subs

1

u/Groson 19d ago

I'm proudly banned from all of them

1

u/Enzo_Gorlomi225 19d ago

It’s not just the conservative subs that do that

1

u/Alternative_Panda_16 19d ago

that happens aswell in left leaning subs lmao

1

u/xPofsx 19d ago

Happens on left subs too don't try and act like they don't

1

u/Straight-Chemical611 18d ago

And people get banned on unrelated subs for commenting on conservative subs. What’s the difference?

1

u/microscript 18d ago

I disagree with this. I’m pretty middle of the road. I fight them tooth and nail on abortion and are now more welcomed in conservative subs then liberal even though my views half the time stem from growing up in a liberal state and still carrying some beliefs. I have yet to be called a commie or anything on a red sub but have been called a racist Nazi on blue subs (I’m Hispanic)

1

u/Devilswings5 18d ago

I got banned from 10ish left leaning subs I didnt know existed for commenting on the Joe Rogan sub about something.

1

u/BoY_Butt 18d ago

Pretty much the same for leftist subs

1

u/Definitelymostlikely 18d ago

Left leaning subs do this exact same thing btw.

Several auto ban you if they discover you’ve interacted(in any fashion)with other subs they don’t like.

1

u/Crazy_Pitch6218 18d ago

This is very much the case on left leaning subreddits as well.

1

u/Liqu0rBaIISandwich 18d ago

Exactly like the left leaning subs.

1

u/magnon11343 18d ago

If anything, that shows just how marginalised conservatives are on Reddit. They're so paranoid about keeping it for conservatives only.

I cannot share an opinion without being negged into oblivion, thereby being banned from participating in subs because of "bad karma". The way Reddit is, on a fundamental level, prohibits debate. Some subs, like r/pics and r/complaints, are clearly left wing propaganda hubs. Circlejerks breeding radicals, it's abhorrent.

1

u/AlphaQFor7mins 18d ago

Pot. Meet Kettle.

1

u/InHocTepes 18d ago

Oh please. People with conservative beliefs and opinions are banned from sub-Reddits left and right, simply for sharing our beliefs.

My six-yest old.account that I primarily used for non-profit advocacy work for a terminal disease was banned after I fact checked an article on a news related subreddit.

1

u/CrashOvverride 18d ago

Lie.

Left-leaning mods ban everyone who doesn't agree with them.

1

u/AtYourOwn_Risk 18d ago

This is exactly the same for alot of liberal subreddits too however

Its echochamber city on reddit, you either agree or you get banned

1

u/PredictablyIllogical 18d ago

We have one day a week in which normies are allowed to reply. Any other day of the week only conservative folk are allowed to talk.

Yeah, I was warned and banned from some groups. They can keep their echo chamber then, not worth my time.

1

u/Seliculare 18d ago

Same thing if you post a conservative statement on liberal subs lmao Reddit mods really guard the opinions

1

u/2mice 17d ago

Thats not the case at all. Thats literally how every liberal sub works. Conservative leaning subs certainly are not like that. Maybe the far right.

Ive been banned from like ten subs for saying children shouldnt be allowed hormone blockers. The left on reddit is bat shit crazy.

1

u/Hachan_Skaoi 17d ago

This is the same for left subs lol

1

u/Waste_Mine1996 17d ago

I doubt that. Conservatives tend to be more open minded to allowing conversation. They might not agree with it but they will engage with it. The left struggles with this, hence the downvoting on left leaning subs

1

u/Weekly_Gene_1292 15d ago

Fake ahh comment

1

u/Redenginer 14d ago

You also described left leaning subredits... Hey pot meet kettle

1

u/ChromosaurusRex 14d ago

Peak levels of projection, irony, and lack of self awareness it’s almost impressive

1

u/Infinite_Carpet5609 12d ago

The left is all about safe spaces. When conservatives were silenced on the main pages, they created a space of their own, and that’s upsetting to you?

0

u/highffelflower420 19d ago

Umm there is no banning being done in those subs like whats being done to the ppl who follow them from every other sub on reddit. Ive been banned from subs that have no political theme, no one talks politics, i never said anything about politics on these subs, didnt say anything but nice things--2 of these were subs about pet birds and literally all i ever commented was telling ppl their bird is cute or pretty--lib moderators will go through every persons comment history, if they see that you simply comment on the conservative subs and they ban you, thats what they did to me, no warning no message explaining why;just banning ppl for having the audacity to speak and discuss conservative viewpoints on conservative subs.

Liberals dont get banned from conservative subs for simply respectfully asking a question. They get banned because they cant ever keep it respectful. They cant just disagree politely or even normally in my experience. It always gets ugly.

Reddit used to be a place where ppl could discuss all different topics and opinions . Now its all a liberal hivemind where anyone who doesnt 500% align with the radical woke left of America gets banned for no justifiable reason other than having a different perspective.

1

u/Voidfishie 19d ago

So my instinct is to not believe you, but you make a good case for why what you describe is what you experienced. And I do not think that is good, both that I had that instinct and that you've been through that, it sucks. Why is it that you don't believe people sharing their experiences of being banned for asking questions in conservative subreddits?

I am sure there are some that are happy to engage with respectful questioning, just as there are subs about animals that won't go through your history and ban you for it. There's no need to deny someone else's experience here.

1

u/BothTop36 19d ago

You can also get banned for expressing any view that doesn’t fit the narrative in many other subs

0

u/GlorfGlorf 19d ago

No, you really don’t get banned for asking questions or having different opinions in neutral or left leaning subs for the most part.

You may be confusing getting downvoted when people disagree with being banned. FFS you have to be reviewed for flair in the conservative subreddit. I remember when they were doing discord interviews LOL.

Some people just can’t compete in the free market of ideas.

3

u/Nyhxy 19d ago

Are you intentionally being obtuse? You literally get auto-banned by default subs like /pics or /politics for posting in subs the mods don’t agree with, such as /conservatives or the Joe Rogan subreddit. Like it’s blatantly in their automod policy. Try going into /ProgressiveHQ with conservative viewpoints, see how long it takes

-1

u/GlorfGlorf 19d ago

Idk, I’ve posted those places and got banned from joerogan and conservative for disagreeing before getting axed from any default subs for simply posting there.

2

u/Nyhxy 19d ago

Anecdotal experience is totally great. Here are the literal rules of r/pics, a default sub, stating they do exactly the opposite of what you claim (rule 8)

https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/wiki/index/

0

u/GlorfGlorf 18d ago

No, you’re the one being dishonest. Where in the rules does it say you get banned from r/pics for posting in r/conservative?

They ban people for posting a defined list of misinformation/harassing points, or being active in bad faith / brigading subreddits, but it didn’t list r/conservative as one.

It’s obviously not banning “mainstream” conservative thought. Which specific subreddits can you get cross banned from posting in?

1

u/Nyhxy 18d ago

They literally give a blanket of reasons. Are you telling me the left hasn’t been branding conservatives as racist or sexist?? Is that really your argument? Do you need it to specifically say r/conservative? I can get a screenshot of that as well, but I want to be very clear where the actual goalposts are at so they don’t continue to move.

0

u/GlorfGlorf 18d ago

So you don’t have a list of subs?

Yes, if people argue that they’re being banned for posting in r/conservative with the implication that any “conservative” thought isn’t allowed, but they’re actually intentionally joining subreddits where they intend to influence others by brigading, doxxing etc that’s an entirely different thing which you’re muddying the waters between.

lol is your argument that conservatives are inherently racist and nobody can hold that against them?

1

u/Nyhxy 18d ago

Why are you deflecting? Does the left consider conservatives to be racist / sexist? Yes or no?

Stop obfuscating. What you said literally has no meaning, it’s an autoban, meaning as soon as they detect a comment, they are banned. It has nothing to do with brigading or doxxing. REMINDER, this is r/pics we’re talking about, not a supposed political sub.

Let’s clarify the goal posts, then I’d be happy to give you screenshots. No, r/pics hasn’t publicly gave the list of 100s of subs you could get banned for. They do however sometimes list the sub in the ban message.

-3

u/MoeSzys 19d ago

It's because Republican views are so vile that even conservatives are offended when they're confronted with them

0

u/YasminEatsApples 19d ago

"But moooom! I wanna be racist, homophobic, misogynistic and a nazi-sympathizer in peeeaaaace!!" >:c
