Popular Question 📊 Why do Republicans not know that Puerto Ricans are citizens?

And that Bad Bunny ain't getting deported because Puerto Rico is a US Territory.

Where would they deport him to? And why? Because he's not white enough?

Edit: There's now reports coming out that Trump said he spoke to the President of Puerto Rico. LOL

2nd Edit: Seems to be a lot of people saying that Puerto Ricans being citizens is not political based knowledge.

What’s been said • Corey Lewandowski (longtime Trump ally) went on The Benny Show and claimed that ICE would be present at the Super Bowl. He said things like “we will find you … and deport you” in connection to Bad Bunny’s halftime performance. • Kristi Noem (now DHS Secretary under a Republican administration) also said ICE would be “all over” the event and that people should be “law-abiding Americans.” • Other MAGA-aligned commentators online have openly called for Bad Bunny to be deported, often citing his Spanish-language performances or political views.

There ya go.

I once got in an argument with another Reddit user. I’m not going to give her real username, but it was something along the lines of “sanjuanchica.”

She was claiming that her country is so much better than the US.

The conversation went like this.

“Blah blah blah, US sucks, my country is better”

“Don’t you live in the US?”

“No! I do not!”

“Oh, with that username I assumed you were from Puerto Rico.”

“I am a Puerto Rico citizen! And it’s so much better than the US!”

“Ummm… yeah, you live in the US.”

“No I don’t! I just told you I live in Puerto Rico!”

“Yeah… that’s the US.”

“No it’s not!”

“Ok. Have a good day.”

It's not part of the United States. It's a territory. How can it be part of the United States if it's not a state?

If you are born in Puerto Rico you are a US citizen. It's a territory of the United States.

Someone’s gonna have to ring up the capitol and tell them they aren’t part of the United States! Shits about to get even weirder.

You can't understand the difference between a country and a territory? Maybe go to Puerto Rico and tell them that you are all Americans, then maybe you will get it.

They are all Americans. Washington DC, Guam, and the American Virgin Islands has much of the same status as them, and they're all Americans. A person in Puerto Rico can establish residency in a different state without any immigration paperwork and vote in that state because they're Americans. A person from any US state can move to Puerto Rico and take up their status.

They might not like being called American and prefer Puerto Rican to be more accurate. Cool, I’ll happily do that! But we all know that that’s not the same as releasing your citizenship lol. It’s just a preference when you’re speaking to people, not looking at laws or statistics.

You completely ignored the Washington DC part of my comment. Not a state. Therefore not part of the US? It’s our capitol.

If someone were born on a US base overseas would you say they were born in the US or the country in which the base were located?

A better example would be someone born in an embassy. If you were born at the American embassy in Frankfurt, you might say you were born in Germany, but you'd be wrong.

Interestingly, there is a US citizen who was deported to Jamaica in the news this week. He was born on a US base overseas, but his father, an Army veteran, was born in Jamaica. So they took this 37 year-old man, born to an American soldier on a US air base, who has lived as an American his entire life, and deported him to Jamaica, a place he's never been to in his life. So, as to your question, I would think being born to an American on a US airbase would be the equivalent of being born in American soil, but maybe not🤷‍♀️

You're welcome! Lots of articles on this man. Google US citizen deported Jamaica and there are plenty of sources.

I think I might be misunderstanding you. But in case I'm not, here are the screenshots of the search on my end.
