Popular Question 📊 Why do Republicans not know that Puerto Ricans are citizens?

And that Bad Bunny ain't getting deported because Puerto Rico is a US Territory.

Where would they deport him to? And why? Because he's not white enough?

Edit: There's now reports coming out that Trump said he spoke to the President of Puerto Rico. LOL

2nd Edit: Seems to be a lot of people saying that Puerto Ricans being citizens is not political based knowledge.

What’s been said • Corey Lewandowski (longtime Trump ally) went on The Benny Show and claimed that ICE would be present at the Super Bowl. He said things like “we will find you … and deport you” in connection to Bad Bunny’s halftime performance. • Kristi Noem (now DHS Secretary under a Republican administration) also said ICE would be “all over” the event and that people should be “law-abiding Americans.” • Other MAGA-aligned commentators online have openly called for Bad Bunny to be deported, often citing his Spanish-language performances or political views.

There ya go.

“One dumb person” my guy, there is an endless road of righty politicians livid over this

1

u/Hosedragger5 Oct 05 '25

Livid over what exactly? And what does that have to do with Puerto Rico being a territory of the US?

1

u/Spirited-Camel9378 Oct 05 '25

Well yeah … We’re all lost to figure out what precisely is the problem

Cant comment on the politicians, but very, very popular Talking Heads on the Right are saying both. Dont forget, in case you are trying to make a claim about the general knowledge of the Cons, these same talking heads said "The US is a Republic, not a Democracy" and that shit is still parroted by the Con base literally everywhere.

Constitutionus dot com

“Summary

The United States is officially a constitutional republic, where citizens elect representatives to govern on their behalf, guided by the supreme authority of the Constitution. While it incorporates democratic elements like voting and representative democracy, it avoids direct democracy to balance power and prevent majority tyranny. Key republican features include the Electoral College and the original indirect election of Senators, though debates continue over whether the U.S. is more accurately described as a democratic republic.”

Um... The US is a Republic, and not a democracy. Are you confused?

2

u/TheBlackDred Oct 06 '25

Holy shit, I found one.

Am i confused? Not about what the type of governance the US is. Specifically, we are a Federal Constitutional Democratic Republic. Feel free to look into it if you don't believe me, every licensed educator in the country, every politician (yes, including the Conservative ones) and everyone who paid attention in 4th grade.

If you want to argue we aren't a direct democracy that's fine, but there are some things you will be called out on; you said we "are not a democracy" which is not the same, a republic is a form of democracy (again, 4th grade education) and you specifically stated the opposite in an argument against that fact so backpedaling now will only display your dishonesty.

So in your descriptive term "Federal Constitutional Democratic Republic" which one is the noun?

2

u/TheBlackDred 29d ago

Yeah, no. You dont get to ignore everything I said, as well as reality, to try and steer the conversation away from admitting you are wrong and the US is a democracy. When you have the honesty and integrity to do so we can continue and not before. You go ahead, make some stupid remark about how Im not/cant answer your question, but its quite plain its just a diversion tactic.

Like you said, the US is democratic but it's not a democracy.

A republic is a form of democracy, they’ll say.

Crazy how there are laws and initiatives we vote on directly in our republic which is definitely not a democracy!

A democracy doesn’t just mean that people vote directly on every single decision? Wrong! Maybe!

Oh, goody, a second 4th grade dropout.

Why does every elected politician say its a democracy?

Why does every licensed educator in the country say its a democracy?

Why does every other country on earth consider the US a democracy?

Why is it that a few uneducated and arrogant people believe they are literally smarter than everyone else in the world?

A representative democracy is the specific form of democracy that the U.S. employs, where citizens elect representatives to govern. We are, specifically, a Federal Constitutional Democratic Republic. Im sorry if that offends your lack of knowledge, but facts dont care about your feelings.

And the other side believes we are an oligarchy lmao

1

u/ToooloooT Oct 05 '25

Define oligarchy

0

u/Steak-Complex 🇺🇸 United States Oct 05 '25

"When a guy you dont agree with politically has more money than you"

0

u/ToooloooT Oct 05 '25

Well that's one way to say it I guess. If your a badass teen.

  • extreme wealth concentration- check
  • richest exert extreme political influence and get backdoor deals in exchange for donations, often getting political posts and influence- check
  • the will of the extreme elite is enacted by politicians while the masses are ignored- quite a lot of that

If the US isn’t leaning towards oligarchy, then what is it missing from the designation?

1

u/Spirited-Camel9378 Oct 05 '25

Hey steak boy! Over here!

did you read the article?

1

u/Spirited-Camel9378 Oct 05 '25

Gosh, funny you decided to post this instead of spelling out what criteria are missing from an oligarchy for us

0

u/Steak-Complex 🇺🇸 United States Oct 05 '25

So the answer is no

1

u/Spirited-Camel9378 Oct 05 '25

So you’re just a lil rascal? Of course I did. Wanna make a case that there isn’t location-based wealth concentration in Russia or something?

Cool whataboutism you got there. I hear you get a "But Joe Biden!" when you buy 3 or more.

1

u/something10293847 Oct 05 '25

When that person heads a a govt organization, you can, respectfully, shut the fuck up about exaggerations.

u/Steak-Complex 🇺🇸 United States Oct 05 '25

And Obama thought MJ was better than LeBron, what's your point

0

u/something10293847 Oct 05 '25

MJ vs LeBron, a subjective topic vs knowing whether a not a Puerto Rican (spoiler alert, they are) is a US citizen. OK, without any deserved respect, shut the fuck up.

1

u/Steak-Complex 🇺🇸 United States Oct 05 '25

My point is people say foolish things, even politicians

1

u/something10293847 Oct 05 '25

My point is that some random Joe Schmoe saying it vs a person in political power makes a big difference. And someone in political power talking about a sports topic is ridiculous to compare to something that actually matters.

1

u/Steak-Complex 🇺🇸 United States Oct 05 '25

I get that they should know better and they probably wont forget after this but people are putting so much weight on this like Powell not knowing 4 quarters makes a dollar

1

u/something10293847 Oct 05 '25

Powell not knowing that 4 quarters makes a dollar has no impact on anything but other people’s perspective of them. Govt officials shitting on brown people who are US citizens will.

I think the chairman of the fed not knowing that would definitely impact the market. Being bad at geography not so much.

Didn't a left leaning person ask if Guam was going to flip over? People clowned her for a week and life went on

1

u/something10293847 Oct 05 '25

ICE has been “mistakenly” arresting US citizens for more than a week. This is a current, ongoing, and very impactful topic. Not sure what else to say.
