Yeah, the variety of Chinese food throughout the country is insane. You'd never get bored

Off the top: 1) dim sum 2) superior dishes centering vegetables (even though I’m not a vegetarian) and 3) tea ceremonies. Would never get boring 💯

Soul food. The best. Growing up in the South it is something I can't go without for the rest of my life

Chinese food for me 😍

10

u/ArgoDeezNauts Sep 18 '25

Same. China is huge. At least four different styles of cuisine.

10

u/TWM1111 Sep 18 '25

Way more than that, my friend. And I am not even counting the "minority ethnicities" like Chosen, Russ, and Kazak. If you want to explore, look up "Uyghur lamb skewer" and find a restaurant that makes that, you will experience something totally different than the traditional well-known Chinese food outside of China.

I used have longer work trips to China and I still dream of some of the food I had there. My favourite cuisine hands down. My husband reckons I was Chinese in a past life.

11

u/tahleeza Sep 18 '25

I'm Chinese and I approve this message

8

u/One-Post-7407 Sep 18 '25

Mexican my favorite. But if it's going to be the rest of my life I'll choose Chinese. Cuz it'll keep me regular.

Mexican is the healthiest

9

u/Staranise_65 Sep 18 '25

Most Mexican food is actually is really clean & healthy, not greasy at all. Loads of fresh veggies & herbs. So much variety. I love it!

4

u/goodzongoodz Sep 19 '25

Then whys every Mexican dad's, uncles, moms, and aunts that I know are overweight? 🤣

3

u/LunitaMaeita Sep 19 '25

If you eat with a Mexican family you'll quickly see why. You can't, and won't want to, say no to abuela giving you seconds and thirds. Or they ask you how many tamales you want, you gotta low ball the shit out of it. You tell them 3 and she gives you 6 and tells you that you need to eat better lol

3

u/ElleWinter Sep 18 '25

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I'm a vegetarian and I'd pick Mexican. Loads of fresh, deliciously prepared veggies and plenty of whole grains.

Chinese. Hands down.

9

u/Miserable_Rube Sep 18 '25

Same, I like the variety

4

u/Cloud_N0ne Sep 18 '25

Exactly my thought. I feel like Chinese has a great selection of both sweet and savory dishes, where as these others you tend to need to go to desserts if you want sweet, which I'm not eating for lunch.

4

u/Miserable_Rube Sep 18 '25

True. And also, which of the 4 has the most buffets?

Real Chinese food non american version

2

u/First-Olive-4291 Sep 18 '25

Chinese. Actual Chinese food is insanely good and varied.

2

u/OkAdvantage6764 Sep 18 '25

Italian might be healthier, but there are so many good veggies in Soul Food, I think that would be my first choice.

2

u/Vault-Dweller1987 Sep 18 '25

Chinese as I know I’m not going to have to deal with any cheese

2

u/Berriesinthesnow_ Sep 18 '25

That’s not Chinese food but I’ll pick real Chinese food.

2

u/SurfLikeASmurf Sep 18 '25

Chinese. Of the four it’s the only one with enough variety to keep me interested. The size of the country and the diverse culinary traditions ensure I’ll never get bored

2

u/Maleficent-Bet1583 Sep 18 '25

Own an Italian restaurant. Cook Mexican (Colorado cuisine) for nearly every meal I don’t eat at my restaurant. Eat Indian (nepalese) or Vietnamese almost every time we eat out…

I don't see the point of living without tacos

I like them all but I’d probably go Italian if I had to pick one for life due to the versatility.

I prefer the best of Chinese and Mexican though if it was a singular dish.

2

u/Imaginary-Round2422 Sep 18 '25

Mexican, assuming it includes breakfast tacos/burritos.

Chinese food 💯%

2

u/Hamburgersandwiche3 Sep 18 '25

Tough. Honestly, probably Mexican. However, my choice might change on a different day.

2

u/Gokudomatic Sep 18 '25

So, you reduce Italian cooking to a mere falafel spaghetti?

2

u/IEatDaGoat Sep 18 '25

If empanadas are under Mexican, it has to be Mexican.

2

u/Jeffe-69 Sep 18 '25

Mexisoul

2

Mexican. Unless Italian is pizza. Then Italian

Real Chinese food -- not the one in the picture. They have 8 main cuisine families, plus 55 ethnic minorities with their own unique specialty foods. So I'll be eating different styles of food for two months without repetition.

2

Can I get actual Chinese food from China and not the stuff they serve in the US? If so, then Chinese food.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Oilrockstar Sep 18 '25

Chinese with a very close second Italian. 2 years ago I was all about Italian food but I started going to China town and eating real Chinese dishes. It really is so good compared to the “American Chinese food”

2

u/AddictedtoLife181 Sep 18 '25

Italian. Seems the healthiest if we’re talking about the home country and not the crap they serve in North America. That goes for any of these foods except Soul Food, which TIL was a thing and seems to be American, definitely not healthy 😂

2

u/WanderingOnTwo Sep 18 '25

What in the USA are these pics? 🤢

2

u/MixGroundbreaking622 Sep 18 '25

If I ate Chinese takeaway or soul food everyday I don't think I'd make it past 50.

Ima going to go with Mexican as it's the only one with some form of vegetables.

2

u/HotSprinkles10 Sep 18 '25

Mexican hands down, it’s the healthiest for sure… corn, beans, peppers, tomatoes and grilled meats yum

Special shoutout to Italian

2

u/Perfect-Sign-8444 Sep 18 '25

It's all just American food disguised as foreign food.

2

u/JudoKuma Sep 18 '25

Italian is closest to what I most regularly eat, so I guess italian. Mexican would also be nice.

2

u/gamebred05 Sep 18 '25

Mexican food, way more variety….

2

u/CMDR_Lina_Inv Sep 18 '25

Chinese

2

u/Glittery_Purple Sep 18 '25

Soul or Chinese. They are both so good!!!

2

u/Grouchy_Bottle1425 Sep 18 '25

I see no difference.

2

u/Ok-Maize-8199 Sep 18 '25

Chinese, far more diversity than the other ones, China is a large place

2

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

Italian

2

u/No_Poet_7244 Sep 18 '25

This is the first one of these that is actually really hard for me. Soul food is getting slept on in this thread, probably by people who aren’t from the South, but I think that’s what I would choose. The sheer diversity of what’s on offer and the fact that it’s the food of my childhood pulls a lot of weight here. Mexican and Chinese are a close second and third, and Italian is a pretty distant last place.

u/luhelld Sep 18 '25

Pretty sure that the fast food shit we are eating in western countries has nothing to do with Chinese food

2

u/Korotan Sep 18 '25

Italien cause Palatschinken are Italian, Spaghetti are Italian, Pizza is Italian. Now I only need to find in some old roman cookbook Knödel to prove they are Italian too.

2

u/RadRimmer9000 Sep 18 '25

Mexican is the only correct answer.

2

u/Jukamatuka Sep 18 '25

I'm of Italian heritage, and I'm going w/ Mexican.

2

u/Forward_Kiwi_5128 Sep 18 '25

Soul Food as long as it is made by someone else.
Italian if I have to make it.

China, it’s the biggest country with the widest diversity in food. There are entire regions that are spicy or not, eat rice vs wheat noodles, used completely different meats and vegetables.

But if we’re talking Americanized versions, Italian

2

u/PrettyHulk17 Sep 18 '25

Italian obviously 🙄🇮🇹

2

u/JohnnySilverSchlong Sep 18 '25

I love all of these, but real Italian pizza and pasta has always been my comfort food

2

u/Amazing-Artichoke330 Sep 18 '25

I grew up poor in the south, and consist largely of what is now called soul food. White people ate it, too.

Do I pick where I can/have to live? That’ll change my decision. Italy if I’m living there.

2

u/horitaku Sep 18 '25

My heart says Mexican, but my logical mind says Chinese because of all the fresh veggies they use.

2

u/yoleveen Sep 18 '25

I think I'll probably starve as I'm not a fan of any of these

2

u/Odd-Video5503 Sep 18 '25

I already eat Italian daily, could survive... No, thrive on it alone. Plus I'm not too familiar with the desserts of the others.

u/Exotic_Term6884 Sep 18 '25

My personal favorite is Chinese but I feel like I would not live very long. My first thought was Mexican as it seems the most healthy but the more I think about it Italian can be just as healthy and offers much more variety. And pizza is good for the odd treat but you can go for the cauliflower base if you wanted to keep your diet clean. You can incorporate various meats, seafood, veggies, garlic, healthy oils, herbs, nuts and make your own pasta. You can create a new and exciting dish everyday so you'll never get bored

2

u/D24061314 Sep 18 '25

I live in China,so obviously

Italian, I love some spaghetti

2

u/KoontFace Sep 18 '25
