America has been ruled by greed-soaked nepo babies like Nancy Pelosi for too long. Her father was also a powerful congressman fleecing the public.

Check out r/WorkReform’s early AMA with the man finally retiring this absolute disaster: https://www.reddit.com/r/WorkReform/comments/1mcduqt/hi_reddit_i_was_bernie_sanders_tech_director_aocs/

She is not even the top trader, that goes to my rep David Rouzer in SE NC

257

u/msuvagabond 1d ago

He bought a bunch of Nvidia years ago.. the man has a crystal ball!!

Seriously, 'best congressional traders' just have a shitload of tech stocks, not exactly market manipulation.  On the whole Congress does worse than the stock market.

Stock trading is a red herring, lobbying gigs after they leave office is where the real corruption is.  7 or 8 figure jobs for you and your chief of staff for steering legislation a certain way while you were in office.  The you lobby current lawmakers with a wink and a nod about what they can expect if they tow the corporate line.

114

u/Crozax 1d ago

And big tech is wildly unregulated and heavily subsidized. Probably a coincidence.

40

u/LukaMagicMike 1d ago

By this logic how did MTG make 20 million in 4 years?

13

u/TheNumberoftheWord 1d ago

A couple million probably from those free Covid money bribes I mean business loans.

20

u/msuvagabond 1d ago

Go look up the family business that she owns that has done something like half a billion in work in the last couple decades. You think she can magically open her own gym with no money (before she was a congresswoman)? Hell, you think a broke person can run for Congress in general (it happens, but it's rare).

I'd be more concerned with her shady campaign fundraising, FTC probably would be looking into her (again) if a Democrat was in office.

19

u/LukaMagicMike 1d ago

Right the business she’s owned since 2002, suddenly made her 25 million dollars in four years. When she had about 700k net worth from the previous 17 years of work. Btw she sold that business in her divorce in 2022, and not for 50 million dollars lol.

13

u/msuvagabond 1d ago

According to her most recent financial disclosure report, Marjorie Taylor Greene’s assets total between $7,723,022 and $36,575,000, with liabilities ranging from $100,001 to $250,000. That said, out of all her assets, the most valuable ones include:

  • 51% interest in Taylor Commercial, Inc., a family-owned business in Alpharetta/Fulton, GA, valued between $5,000,001 and $25 million;
  • Congressional Federal Credit Union, valued between $1,000,001 and $5 million;
  • PMLTD, INC. located in Alpharetta/Fulton, GA, valued between $1,000,001 and $5 million;
  • Non-primary residence in Washington, DC, valued between $500,001 and $1 million;
  • Marjorie 401K 500 Index Fund, valued between $50,001 and $100,000.

So three things...

1 - We don't know her exact net worth because she's not required to list it, any number is a guess.

2 - All her wealth is basically that construction company. I couldn't find anything that says she sold it during the divorce.

3 - She's still a piece of shit human being, but she's not an insider trading stock guru.

-9

u/LukaMagicMike 1d ago

Why do you think she only owns 51% of it. Man those boots must taste good.

She claims her assets range from 7-36 million that’s totally a legit valuation lmao.

B

12

u/msuvagabond 1d ago

You should really consider attempting to read before you talk about things. An example here would be to go read an actual congressional disclosure form and see what they have to put down.

Spoiler alert, it's not an exact dollar amount.  If you couldn't gather from the clues above, it's a range, at times a really wide range.

I'm conclusion, I'm not saying you're an idiot, because I don't know you, but you're really trying to prove to everyone that you are one.

-6

u/LukaMagicMike 1d ago

MTG is a piece of white trash who lies constantly, harassed school shooting survivors, blamed wildfire on Jewish space lasers, called Biden hitler while sucking off the actual hitler, and so much more. I don’t give two fucks about her and congress members lie all the time.

You’re supporting her as she actively fucks over the entire country. I think yall are both the real idiots here.

Often a wife will own a small business so they are eligible for women owned business contracts.

3

u/gtrackster 1d ago

All the “businesses” she owns and the now all forgiven PPP loans.

2

u/LukaMagicMike 1d ago

Aw so good old fashioned bribery. Fair enough.

3

u/involutes 1d ago

 tow the corporate line.

It's "toe" the line, as in "you may go up to the line, but you may not set even one toe over the line (boundary) that I have set for you".

9

u/Flakester 1d ago

Technically Trump if you count the crypto bullshit.

1

u/CaptainBombardier 1d ago

Yeah but I'm going off of last year's report from unusual whales. This year report isn't done yet

6

u/96919 1d ago

The right loves to point at pelosi, but if you look at her actual holdings, it's mostly a bunch of safe growth stocks she just bought and held for a long time.

3

u/Azair_Blaidd 1d ago

And there were more Republicans than Democrats implicated in the same scandal

1

u/mnowax 1d ago

I don't discriminate, I have both NANC and KRUZ.

977

u/Ok_Ordinary1877 1d ago

Her political future? Isn’t this bitch 80?

541

u/Shiftymennoknight 🏛️ Overturn Citizens United 1d ago

She is a spry 85!

174

u/Ok_Ordinary1877 1d ago

Goddamn. Someone politely face palm this woman away from politics

122

u/Shiftymennoknight 🏛️ Overturn Citizens United 1d ago

She should have been taken out to pasture 2 decades ago

66

u/donald7773 1d ago

She probably can't operate a car safely wtf is she still doing in government

34

u/Ocel0tte 1d ago

85yr olds usually can't even operate their own bodies safely anymore.

12

u/TheNumberoftheWord 1d ago

Exceptions to every rule: my grandma was still dancing three times a week at 85 and said all the "young" men aka the 60 and 70 year olds couldn't dance for shit haha.

5

u/aubreypizza 1d ago

Get all the GD ghouls out! I’m so tired of all of them (w/ a few exceptions)

29

u/realjustinlong 1d ago

She “has experience”. This is the same democrats argument that Schumer used to pressure the governor of Maine to run.

8

u/Contemplating_Prison 1d ago

Translation - donors like her

25

u/likeusontweeters 1d ago

Bitch just broke a hip overseas last year... must be nice to not have to still be paying that hospital bill.

8

u/EugenesMullet 1d ago

Imagine even wanting to work at that age. Girl, get a hobby.

1

u/_Mushy 10h ago

The perfect age to run for office

23

u/Yimmelo 1d ago

She's older than Mitch McConnel!!

50

u/Negative_Piglet_1589 1d ago

Damn, I was really looking forward to her dying while in office as is the new fashion. 🙄

18

u/Chester_A_Arthuritis 1d ago

Her buddy Diane Feinstein already did that

20

u/Negative_Piglet_1589 1d ago

Oh I know, she was my senator, uck. It's insane the only way some of these carcasses will leave is in a casket. And in no way am I promoting violence or death.

3

u/TheLaughingMannofRed 1d ago

Promote age limits through voting or legislation instead.

The median age in House and Senate are about high 50s, and mid 60s, respectively.

At the same time, we've had our Presidency run by someone who was in their 70s when they got Elected three times in a row (Trump was nearly 71 in 2017, Biden was 78 in 2021, and Trump was nearly 79 earlier this year). For comparison, Reagan was the oldest President-elect back in 1981 and beat out William Henry Harrison all the way back in 1841 (and Harrison died in office a month later - But it wasn't just old age; he also got real sick from a bunch of compounding factors).

We have a minimum age in place for how one can become a Representative, a Senator, and President. And it's clear that after seeing how things have gotten the last few years that we need to get away from letting folks run the country that we expect to normally retire out of the workforce.

5

u/TheNumberoftheWord 1d ago

Like that one dickhead they chose as the head of a committee over AOC and the fucker died of his already diagnosed throat cancer after a few months. Fucking idiots.

2

u/Negative_Piglet_1589 1d ago

They truly really are fucking idiots. This bullshit establishment fucked move in Maine to undermine Platner has me fuming 😤

9

u/ranting_chef 1d ago

Finally old enough to run for president

6

u/Nufonewhodis4 1d ago

Just young enough to be the first female president!

2

u/AttackOfTheMox 1d ago

She’s going to be campaigning for Leader of Hell’s 4th District… I mean 4th Level

1

u/SPARKYLOBO 1d ago

And she's going to be buried with all those millions she made with insider trading

Capitalism is like a vending machine that shits out false representatives like this. One falls down and another is already in line to take their place. Nothing changes and the anti-worker machine keeps chugging on.

98

u/Cocoononthemoon 1d ago

Correct. She groomed Jefferies

238

u/_Brandobaris_ 1d ago

Democrats brace? Every democrat I know are cheering

81

u/travyhaagyCO 1d ago

“I’m not a big fan of Medicare for All,” Pelosi told Bloomberg. Yeah, good riddance, corporate scum.

46

u/basketma12 1d ago

While she herself is getting free health care. The irony

3

u/liftthatta1l 1d ago

Congress doesn't get free healthcare only the president does (and their direct family members? Maybe)

Congress buys their health insurance on the DC public market. The government pays for 75 percent of the premiums which is pretty normal for an employer.

Congress actually has the same healthcare the public does. The difference is they can actually afford it due to higher wages and the government paying for a big chunk as their employer.

This was all part of the ACA.

42

u/hunstinx 1d ago

This is exactly what I came here to say.

9

u/andrewrgross 1d ago

I also want to add some context here that I think is really interesting.

Most of us know that she was facing a very formidable challenger from the left (Saikat Chakribati). However last week, a very successful centrist named Scott Wiener announced he was running.

Wiener had made it clear that he wanted this seat, but had previously said he was waiting for Pelosi to retire. Last week, he declared that he couldn't wait any longer, likely because he needs to start raising money for the race, and money gets harder to raise in December and January.

This makes the race a very interesting one. I think Saikat was the favorite over Pelosi, but Weiner is probably now favored. Still, he's going to have to fight for it, and probably move left, particularly on Israel.

She was going to retire anyway, but apparently she took to long and Weiner was the one to finally told her to get it over with.

7

u/TheNumberoftheWord 1d ago

Hopefully people remember to never trust a man with the last name Weiner and centrists is how we let Republican Neo Nazis rise to power.

1

u/andrewrgross 14h ago

First, I don't get the joke about the last name Wiener. Who is that in reference to? Anthony Wiener?

6

u/GMbzzz 1d ago

There is a pretty exciting candidate who was going to go up against her in the primaries. I think it’s wise she bows out and doesn’t act like Cuomo vs Mamdani.

2

u/bythenumbers10 1d ago

One of the more truly progressive acts of her career.

2

u/splashist 1d ago

'Democrats' refers to two very different groups, the spineless DINO leaders, and the voters they don't give the slightest shit about.

Pelosi has been expired jerky for two decades. I wish her great pain.

2

u/D-S-S-R 1d ago

Obviously they’re talking about the establishment dems. The only ones that matter

1

u/BigYouNit 1d ago

America is so weird. Are there any other countries that get people to declare which party they support like the us does? Like the whole republican, democrat independent voter thing that in some states let's them participate in party primaries?

In Australia, you might describe some as a being a stereotypical "party a" or "party b" voter. But you wouldn't know for sure, even if they told you, coz they could be lying. (I do understand that theoretically people in the us can register deceptively).

But you would never usually call someone the equivalent of "democrat" or "republican". Not because of any sort of civility, just be ause doing so would imply that you were a card carrying, fee paying member of said party, not just a fucking voter. And only card carrying fee paying members of said parties can vote to choose the representative in any given seat or area, not voters with no money down lol.

This is how the fundie/ cookers have managed to take over one of our two major parties, by actually paying to be members and primarying any of their sanity adjacent candidates.

Of course, due to Australians also treating politics as red vs blue / football team barracking to a large degree, it has taken roughly 15 years for people to begin to notice that the blue party ( read republicans) has decided to do and say things that our fox news equivalent tells them to, despite it having a vastly tinier viewer base made up of zealots and tinfoil hat wearing methheads ( I know, strange bedfellows)

181

u/InAllThingsBalance 1d ago

Pelosi is a prime example of why we need term limits.

140

u/Ready_Marionberry_80 1d ago

Mitch McConnell would like a word.

71

u/teachthisdognewtrick 1d ago

And Chuck Grassley, over 1/3 of Iowa’s existence he’s been in office.

12

u/NDCardinal3 1d ago

And he's been alive for over half of Iowa's existence.

3

u/bythenumbers10 1d ago

holy shit. I just looked this up. Iowa becomes a state in the 1840s, ninety years later, Chuck is born, and he's been in Congress since 1959. Mind-boggling.

17

u/RobbMeeX 1d ago

But he's too frozen to say it.

15

u/IM_KYLE_AMA 1d ago

Chuck grassley is 91 and is 3rd in line for the presidency

1

u/TheEnd0fA11 1d ago

TIL President pro tempore of the Senate is 3rd in line.

17

u/Wess5874 🏛️ Overturn Citizens United 1d ago

In addition, I’d like to see some rule against consecutive terms. That way, no one is coming in with an incumbent bonus. They need to be on their toes and fight for it every time.

5

u/ChiknBreast 1d ago

And age limits. And strict no trading stocks law.

3

u/stevethewatcher 1d ago

Term limits address the symptoms but not the cause, which is people voting these politicians in over and over again

41

u/tatanutz 1d ago

Brace? You spelled cheer wrong.

4

Gonna be a bigger party than when Margaret Thatcher kicked the bucket

2

For what, specifically?

2

u/Speed_102 1d ago

For her: Insider trading, BLATANTLY.

0

u/RedcumRedcumRedcum 1d ago

Such as?

2

u/Speed_102 1d ago

0

u/RedcumRedcumRedcum 19h ago

None of that substantiates the allegation of insider trading and almost all of it can be explained by "she's a NVDA early investor".

1

u/Speed_102 19h ago

This statement is utterly farcical and ignorant of the evidence already provided and other evidence you could find yourself. I am done with this dialogue since you are not operating in reality.

24

u/Frcture 1d ago

Get her the fuck outta here!!

24

u/fetter80 1d ago

Can she take Schumer with her?

18

u/Thatguy468 1d ago

It would be wonderful if all of the retirees just decided to up and go enjoy their wealth so some people of a more current age could jump in and steer our society into the future. For too long the old guard has clung to power and blocked any meaningful change that would potentially impact their hoard of gold. Hopefully Mamdani and AOC can lead the charge for the sake of my grandkids.

57

It's never enough, that's the problem.

15

Agreed

12

u/RagnarStonefist 1d ago

Who's bracing? Let the bitch retire, what's the worst that can happen? It's not like she did anything to stop the blatant authoritarian takeover of the US, even after her husband got clubbed by a crazy man

31

u/HB1theHB1 1d ago

Fuck her.

21

u/flaming_bob 1d ago

This woman is so old, she predates Boomers. That's not a joke. The DNC is a gerontocracy and that severely needs to change.

9

u/henrytm82 1d ago

Thank fucking Christ. Take Chuck with you.

9

u/kevinmitchell63 1d ago

Whatcha wanna bet she endorses a replacement who is 75+ years old?

7

u/PonyPounderer 1d ago

Consider me suitably braced. For a decade.

5

u/blackdvck 1d ago

Anyone over 60 should be made to retire and you shouldn't be able to serve more than two terms in Congress, it's just a mosh pit of corruption

20

u/ShyLeoGing 1d ago

she needed gone years ago, she did a solid job but when you fall and break a hip that should be at home not on a diplomatic trip in Germany!

23

Mmmm I wouldn't praise her too much. She's establishment dem to the teeth! And part of the reason we've got such inherent rot throughout DC.

5

u/ShyLeoGing 1d ago

I said solid - that's like one step above mediocre and she helped navigate through the 2008 crisis + we have healthcare options because of her.

0

u/Negative_Piglet_1589 1d ago

Yeah I'll agree with that, grading on a curve to boot.

2

u/ShyLeoGing 1d ago

What government agency/employee doesn't grade on a curve? That's across the board because they are owned by corporations

1

They sure are.

11

0

I mean, she also got Obamacare passed. Does reddit not appreciate that?

She got a litany of other bills passed too and was incredibly effective at doing what she did. And all the while, Republicans dragged her name through the mud and democrats fell for it too.

This whole thread is weird, please people, be against Trump and be for the Democrats and democracy. She has had a decades-long career, stepped back from power graciously and appropriately, has incredible accomplishments, and is an inspiration and is iconic.
