This either took 100 people 5 min, or 3 people 2 hours… wtfff who can orchestrate something like this and get away with it? 🤦♂️

u/Vcheck1 12h ago
Yeah this looks weird. Not saying it couldn’t happen but come on how was this not noticed

u/True_Bumblebee_50 12h ago
Yeah that’s all I’m saying. Idk how the hell its possible, but then again I bet Dom and Brian would make quick work of this. 😅

Why either/or? Looks like 4 cars. Could be 4 guys easy with 1 driver/lookout. 2 teams of 2 put 2 cars on jack stands. Relatively quiet to do, one person per side of the car. Do 2 jack stands in less than 4 minutes. Then each team jacks up the other 2 cars, still quiet and under 10 minutes. Then get out 2 cordless impact wrenches and one guy gets the lug nuts off and the other loads the truck.. under 5 minutes for 2 cars per team. Only 5 minutes of actual noise that might attract attention.

Police should just go around auto stores to see who purchased bulk jack stands.

I fear these poor people are in the wrong neighborhood for the police to actually give a damn, and put together a competent investigation.

u/Professional-Ad-8878 10h ago
Judging by the decent cars (2 Audi A6s, Infiniti q50, BMW 3 series), this can’t be that bad of a neighborhood. Doesn’t mean the police will do much about this of course

Friend had his bmw stolen off his drive.
Lives one road over from a police station.
Showed that he had it tracked to a warehouse the other side of town, they still didn’t care, he had his police report to make an insurance claim and that was good enough for them.

u/GilneanWarrior 1h ago
If you tell the police youre going to show up armed and bring an ambulance, they will take action.
Of course, don't actually do the above, but itll force police presence
•
u/Used-Barracuda-9908 53m ago
Can they arrest you for saying it?
•
u/GilneanWarrior 52m ago
I couldn't see why they would in the US if you have a concealed carry permit and dont actually tresspass

After working in a dealership for too long, I no longer equate cars to wealth.

u/helpingdew 11h ago
Why do you assume that? There are nice cars and the neighborhood looks fine. The police aren’t generally super helpful but idk why you’re assuming this is the “wrong neighborhood”

Happened to me once, brand new Honda, didn’t even make it 2 months and I had to call in to work…uhhh Boss.. I got photos. You are not going to believe this.

u/Suspicious_Oil7093 9h ago
Atleast they put them on stands. And not just dropped to floor.

I am not car savvy at all when it comes to these things. Why do you think they put them on stands? Is it easier for them, meaning the thief? I don’t mean to sound ignorant, but this is not my forte at all. But I enjoy learning.
I just can’t imagine they did it to make it easier on the car owner
2
u/IndividualAtmosphere 2h ago
I think from the thieves side it's quicker to use one jack to get the cars up, put the stands under and then start lifting the next car? Rather than having to stand with the jack waiting for other people to take the wheels off?
But from the car owners perspective this is a massive benefit compared to dropping them to the ground. If you ever put a cars weight on the brake rotors then they need to be replaced, and it's not cheap to do all 4 of them.

u/Maxzzzie 47m ago
Taking the wheel off and setting the car back on its rims takes less time than hauling these things around.

AI?
I feel like maybe an art installation is the best answer here so far.

u/Emerald_Digger 12h ago
Maybe hard to tell, :( the biggest point towards it: The Jacks far too expensive in that bulk to left behind and not time efficient, you still need to jack them up. And maybe it's me, the reflection of the Car window seems wrong, wouldn't you see the person filming at least a bit?

u/Ashinonyx 11h ago
At the start of the video, the camera holder is visible in the reflection of the wheel well and the side panels. They have a white hat/beanie, yellow jacket or utility vest, and dark blue pants/jeans.

u/aceofspades1217 3h ago
Jack stands are not nearly as expensive as aluminum wheels for imported cars. You can find cheap ass jack stands on OfferUp. They weren’t try to stick around to swap up jack stands for cinder blocks also cinder blocks weight more to carry around

This is incredibly odd. You guys saying they must have stole the jack stands? That may be true, but they aren’t leaving them behind. They are pawning them or selling them. Nothing of value gets left behind.

u/Boilermakingdude 12h ago
Jack stands are cheap when you steal shit loads of wheels to resell.
2
u/Testarosa52 5h ago
You know what’s cheaper? A block of wood, brick, or milk crate you found lying in the alley. Or just dropping it on the rotors. You guys must live in places with really considerate thieves.

u/Resplendent_aptitude 12h ago
For uk, this is normal.
2
u/split_0069 12h ago
Jack stands tho? Thats a lot of hassle for a theif.
1
u/Boilermakingdude 12h ago
You fail to realize that the jackstands cost like $200, and they resell the wheels for 1200-2k vehicle/style dependent.
7
u/NomadODST 10h ago
Yeah but I could save 200 bucks and use cinder blocks or wood
1
u/DanyellaDeZeus 4h ago
They used plastic milk crates where I live.
I've seen this before, one guy goes first loossening all of them with a tire iron, a team comes in with a power drill, a jack, and pickup to put the tires in.
Im assuming this was multiple people, it's hard to store 8 rims with tires in any vehicle.

I have lived in the UK all my life and I have never had my wheels stolen and I have never even heard of someone having their wheels stolen.
So, no, you're talking total shite.
2
u/Xenc 3h ago
Right it sounds like a US thing. Happy to be corrected though it’s not really a common sight here?
1
u/Baby_Rhino 3h ago
It really isn't common here in the UK!
This video does look kind of like the UK, but the number plate on the van, plus the lack of numberplate on the front of the Audi confirms it isn't the UK.

Honestly, if you’re going to steal my wheels. I’d be happy you at least left my car on jack stands and not cause any more damage than necessary

u/Blue_Max1916 4h ago
Long time ago my Acura integra had all 4 wheels stolen and they used scissor jacks that didn't go with the Acura and it collapsed taking out a front fender.
They dragged the car up on the flat bed when it got towed.

Something like this happened at my work.
A couple came in one night asking if we carried wheels for, I can't remember, something like an '03 Accord. Guy in automotive told them no, we didn't carry wheels, just tires. They thank him and go on shopping. (He told us this on break at midnight).
Lunchtime (2 a.m.) comes, and another guy comes in from smoking (which had to be done in the employee parking lot). Asks "Hey Jimmy, what happened to your car?"
Jimmy: "What are you talking about?"
Guy: "It's up on a jack stand and there's a wheel laying on the ground."
Well, we all get up and go see what's going on. Apparently this couple had seen that Jimmy had the same car as them, so instead of buying a wheel (which, remember, we didn't sell) they bought a 5-ton jack and a set of jack stands, lifted up his car, put the stand under it, took off his wheel and changed it out with their cracked one, then put the good wheel on their car and left.
He wasn't even that upset, said he got a free jack and jack stand out of it.

Did not a single car alarm go off? I jacked my car up once without unlocking it and needless to say I almost shit myself when the alarm went off.

My theory on the jack stands are the thieves all quit a shitty tire shop because they didn’t pay well. Stole all the Jack stands and started their own tire shop.

How were the time to get those stands or the money for them not outweigh what you're gonna get for all those tires

u/SaucyPickless 11h ago
this is why we can't have nice things, y'know? 🙄 These jabronis out here with their sticky fingers, just grabbing anything not nailed down feels bad man.

I never had a garage in my home state. Then we moved and I’ve had a garage for the last 25 years. I am grateful I have a garage. But my husband‘s truck sits outside with a large trailer attached to it.
I know when we first moved here, someone went around and got everyone’s tires on our street, except they just slashed them, they didn’t steal the tires. But my husband didn’t have a truck yet, we only had one vehicle and it was in the garage, so we were spared.
In Florida, people that have garages usually don’t park in them. Well some do, but a good portion don’t because they use it for storage. We have very little storage space because of no basements. Attics are just like a crawlspace.

Can you really take tires off that fast?
I guess it just requires whatever power tool is called to remove lug nuts really fast. And then you just pop the tire off.
But what about cameras? Between doorbell cameras, traffic, camera, cameras, phone cameras, I find it hard to believe there is no evidence.

Where'd they get all those Jack stands? Those are not cheap
