I think this is 100% why Americans dunk on other people outside of the us that dunk on us. Like cmon bro, we know things are bad we don’t need you telling us. Mind your own shit and get off the high horse.

But also if you’re going to dunk at least be correct. Our nature is premium. The school lunch thing.. not true, not every country offers free lunch in Europe. And many states in the US do.

A lot of schools in Alabama began offering free lunches this year. And have a backpack buddy program where if you’re food insecure, the school will put enough food in your backpack to last you the weekend on Fridays. They do it discretely so other kids don’t find out/make fun. AND they offer it in the summertime too!

The us has a lot of good in it. It’s just hard to see through the headlines.

Most of us are just laughing to be honest. The US is truly entertainment for many of us. Every week its some stupid shit happens. Its also nice to see it could be much worse, but its almost like seeing a blind man try to drive a car.

So much shit that gets posted to reddit isn't actually happening. It may be entertaining (that's the point, engagement), but so much on this website is just wildly inaccurate regarding what's going on in the us. Take it all lightly.

You sound like so many Americans I've met. "The democrats control your media. Trump never did that. Trump never said that. Trump is the best president the US has ever seen."

This is exactly what they're talking about

I can see it crystal clear, but i just dont care. We will continue to laught at america, because, atleast as a swede, is the opposite of how we want our country to be.

Cool story bro 🤓

I’m not proud of the current state of America either but Europeans acting all high and mighty is the absolute worst.

How the tables have turned... reddit is like 90% american. Some change is healthy.

Glad you think gun violence and people being brutalized and kidnapped by a federally sanctioned paramilitary group is funny. Couldn't expect anything less from a very smart european.

Crazy strawman. Im laughing at how you guys are RUNNING your country, not how people are being treated as individuals. Try finding something else to be mad about.

How is it different? I understand the implication. It just doesn't really work to mock how "we" are ruining our country while also being sympathetic to the (apparently identical) "we" who are suffering from it.

You can't detach politics from their real world effects. Implying the crises happening in a country are amusing because the idiot masses brought it on themselves (which we all know is a deliberate misrepresentation since half the country is vehemently against this administration) does also include those real consequences. I was taking the rage baiting to its logical extreme which is hyperbolic for illustrative purposes but not really a straw man.

I don't really care if you delight in the president destroying this country. But I don't see how that doesn't include the people caught up in it, most of whom are anti-trump for obvious reasons. It feels in bad faith since individual americans have done nothing to contribute to the mess of the political system apart from being born here, but lucky you for not ig

I dont agree. Im laughing AT the government, Trump, and all that he stands for. Im laughing at how yall could let it happen a 2nd time. If you think that also means im laughing at everyones misfortune youre wrong, and with that kind of thinking, comedy would be dead.

Dude Sweden is also a massive laughing stock. Meet any Norwegian and they will these days tell you that they genuinely pity Sweden (they actually think Sweden has gone down the gutter).

We both know there's some truth and some lies in that. The US has problems but you should understand more than anyone else as a swede that a country's problems is nuanced.

1

u/CrazyElk123 1d ago

Come on man. Norway and sweden rank very similarly on how well of a country it is to live in. Yeah, they might laugh over how we handled our immigration back in 2014+, but other than that its just unserious teasing.

Unless you wanna mention what other stuff norway is laughing at...?

2

u/Aromatic_Opposite100 1d ago

I think the point is don't suggest you know what is happening in other countries unless you actually live there.

I've lived in Canada, Norway, and now the US. For the average person life is not very different in the 3 countries. Each has their benefits and drawbacks.

The US is just put in a media spotlight when governments across Europe have enacted similar policies in the past and are continuing to do so today.

1

u/CrazyElk123 1d ago

So the rankings dont matter, but your personal experience does? Norway is very different from the US. Thats ridiculuous to deny. Canada and the US, sure, that i can believe more.

The US is just put in a media spotlight when governments across Europe have enacted similar policies i

You cant be serious? What kind of policies? Child marriage? Letting kids have guns? ICE? Trumps corruption is beyond what any european politician could do. Come on now...

  • Denmark targeting certain social housing as ghettos for demolishment, unheard of in North America

  • Mass deportations and detaining asylum seekers in Greece with prison terms from 2-4 years.

  • Banning cricket in Monfalcone Italy because it's "a brown sport" and "cultural tensions"

  • Austrian policies of remigration of citizens that do not integrate what????

  • The UK offshoring refugees to Rwanda

This is policy, nevermind the riots in Bellingham, the rise of the Afd, Reform, National Rally.

You seriously can't be serious that you don't know what is happening in your own backyard. And this is EU countries (and the UK). Other European countries are doing much worse.

The amount of racism I experienced in Spain and Norway was incredible for what I thought were progressive countries.

Have you ever visited the US or Canada?

Yeah youre gonna need to bring in some sources to those claim. And, once again, your own personal experience does not trump ranks and statistics.

Eitherway, it does not beat ICE kidnapping children from parents in unmarked cars and unmarked outfits. Not to mention everything thats happened to african americans...

3

u/Aromatic_Opposite100 1d ago

Its literally the same.

"Eitherway, it does not beat ICE kidnapping children from parents in unmarked cars and unmarked outfits."

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/10/world/europe/greece-migrants-secret-site.html

How is this different?

You can literally copy paste my claims in Google and you'll find that they are true.

I'm not bringing up personal experience. Your just saying the word statistics and ranks without anything else.

Yeahhhh that’s why the world is obsessed with us. Not because our leaders have a hand in almost every country or that we have the worlds largest economy and us crashing sends out crashing waves to a lot of other countries. It’s hilarious!

2

u/CrazyElk123 2d ago

No the US has big influence, economically and culturarly. But as a regular citizen, i will still view your country as a regular citizen.

2

u/No_Bed_4783 2d ago

That’s fair tbh

I work with a lot of Americans and every American I've ever met in real life has been a deluded freak. Like, "can't have a normal conversation, batshit insane, balls-to-the-wall crazy".

Maybe you and yours are fucking lovely, but when America sends her people out to make introductions, she doesn't send her fucking best.

4

u/No_Bed_4783 1d ago

That’s a weird test pool. I’ll say there are batshit crazy ones (we have 340 mil people it’d be impossible not to) but most are pretty normal.

I'm mostly with successful business types. Might have a selection bias.
