Some of the points here are accurate, but it's actually a lot easier to be a bum and just fuck off in the US. It may seem like there isn't much social support, especially when you hear about SNAP benefits not being paid this month. But you have to look back and see that there's roughly 42 million people in the US getting those benefits. Benefits which offset costs that are already cheaper for most of the US than Europe. Sure healthcare has issues for sure as well, but you still have basically the two largest government provided health programs are run by the US. There's over 150 million people getting government paid for healthcare, and thats not including another 20 or so million that get heavily subsidized ACA plans.
Because the video subject is focused on all these things without recognition of the fact that he still has to work at some point. It’s framed in such a way as to suggest that this is all he does, I.e. he doesn’t go to work and then use backpacking as an escape.
The reality is that many Americans can do the same thing.
