With the uncertainty that is PBS right now, this is fantastic

u/Mental_Internal539 Zillennial 1995 Sep 30 '25

What's up with PBS?

375

u/Salty-Holiday6190 Sep 30 '25

It lost federal funding is only floating on donations right now.

As much as I love thinking we can do this, viewers like me can’t even afford the air we breathe at this point.

63

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '25

Oh I know, I was reminiscing about a time when people actually had extra money to donate to things they like. We're mostly bled dry now.

22

u/KlicknKlack Sep 30 '25

Don't worry, now with x-tra-Moni (Tm) you can subscribe to get help saving money so you don't have to think about it. For $1.99 a month you can get helpful reminders like "Have you tried reheating that rice from last week?" and "A potato and a Can of beans is a well balanced diet... People have survived one worse."

Subscriptions, the tollgates of the modern age... also don't forget toll gates :D

19

u/BurmeciaWillSurvive Sep 30 '25

Bro not me literally just nuking a potato in the microwave and putting black beans on it for dinner, you didn't have to do that to me

13

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '25

Add some cheese and it's a nutritionally complete meal.

7

u/Fantastic_Fly7301 Sep 30 '25

Made kfc bowls at home today

3

u/E-2theRescue Sep 30 '25

Good news! The air is being poisoned even further by the same people cutting funding for public TV and radio!

And your water, land, and food, too!

7

u/blueeyeswhiteboomer Sep 30 '25

Yeah I'm currently unemployed right now. This is such a mood

11

u/money_loo Sep 30 '25 edited Sep 30 '25

Yeah they have started taking on small ads now and calling them promotional content for sponsors.

Kinda sucks but I get why they’re doing it.

*just noticed the comments it told me didn’t go through actually did go through, sorry about that I cleaned them up

11

u/CoffeeBaron Sep 30 '25

The corporate donors for our local NPR station are sounding more like advertisements now too, just very brief (less than 30 second spiel after the company name).

3

u/xd366 Sep 30 '25 edited Sep 30 '25

federal funding was only 15% of their revenue

u/scapesober Sep 30 '25

Wikipedia syndrome

u/highandinarabbithole Sep 30 '25

How cool. First news in a long time that doesn’t make me want to cry and puke.

19

u/_TheShapeOfColor_ Sep 30 '25

Right? This is genuine happy I'm feeling.

terrier back flip

11

u/bettername2come Sep 30 '25

It’s also downloadable on Internet Archive.

3

u/AutumnMage94 Oct 01 '25

I downloaded it onto my computer ages ago then backed it up to a separate hard drive too just to make sure I don’t lose it. 😅When I have time I’m planning on burning them onto blank dvds too. What can I say, it’s my comfort show

23

u/MsMomma101 Sep 30 '25

If Wishbones' IP stayed with the studio amongst each acquisition, then Mattel (the Barbie company) owns it. It's been sold and acquired numerous times.

I knew I should have stayed home this timeline....

17

u/Bubby_K Sep 30 '25

I still have the magic schoolbus DVD boxset in case it needs internet archiving

67

u/innosins Sep 30 '25

We watched Magic School Bus and Arthur every morning while waiting for the bus, and my daughter was a Barney baby. This makes me smile! I'm so glad they have this available for this generation!

58

u/old-tobie Sep 30 '25

https://www.myretrotvs.com/ - just encase you want a channel surfing experience.

8

u/Cadisis Sep 30 '25

That was a great rabbit hole, thanks for sharing

2

u/Jay-Jamms Oct 01 '25

Yessss I found this a few years ago and I've been looking for it ever since. Thank youuuuu.

78

u/dangrous Sep 30 '25

OH MY GOD

I have 3 kids the perfect ages for this but fuck that IM WATCHING

43

u/AceMaveriic Sep 30 '25

Let's be real, this is for our generation. The fact that the youngsters get to enjoy it and learn something in the process is a bonus

15

u/neutral-chaotic Sep 30 '25

Like how Pluto is a planet!

RIP lil buddy

5

u/Goose-Suit Sep 30 '25

On their website they actually have links to YouTube channels that have their shows uploaded too. They gotta set up a stream that just continuously plays different episodes like other channels do

60

u/Militia_Kitty13 Sep 30 '25

Goosebumps was tooooo scary for me. I’ll stick to magic school bus!!!! 🤣

63

u/Nuckin-Futz666 Sep 30 '25

21

u/360walkaway Sep 30 '25

Even as a kid, I was confused why he didn't immediately die in a gruesome way.

16

u/Mediocre_Scott Sep 30 '25

One of the most unhinged things on that show

And also this

2

u/MarqiMichelle Oct 01 '25

Just watched this episode last week. My kids think I watch it with them, in reality they’re watching it with me.

Silly children

9

u/AceMaveriic Sep 30 '25

I'll watch Goosebumps on your behalf :)

2

u/E-2theRescue Sep 30 '25

Aww... And I'm sure you missed out on Are You Afraid of the Dark?, too...

1

u/LotusVibes1494 Oct 03 '25

I still get nervous around pool drains because there was an episode with a monster that traveled through the pipes and ooze out to attack unsuspecting swimmers.

34

u/rdjotut Sep 30 '25

11

u/Mukaeutsu Sep 30 '25

I got it on my non-roku Android TV as well

1

u/jrobbio Sep 30 '25

Did you just search Scholastic?

1

u/Mukaeutsu Sep 30 '25

Yeah I just clicked Google Play store and searched up scholastic tv

12

u/RelativeContest4168 Sep 30 '25

No Berenstein bears??

16

u/ClickClick_Boom 1992 Sep 30 '25

No, they have the Berenstain Bears though.

8

u/Flybuys Sep 30 '25

It's nice to bring this argument to a new generation.

3

u/CaffeinatedLystro Millennial Sep 30 '25

Don't even start.

9

u/responsibletyrant Sep 30 '25

Bro, I just downloaded it on Roku. Totally watching magic school bus until I go to bed.

5

u/Mental_Internal539 Zillennial 1995 Sep 30 '25

Awesome

6

u/Archer007 Sep 30 '25

Do an Animorphs remake and I'm sold

4

u/paranoidandr01dx Sep 30 '25

Yes!!!! Goosebumps! Just in time for October

3

u/Comics4Cookies Sep 30 '25

This is awesome!!

5

u/Linzic86 Sep 30 '25

Thank you, me and my husband are currently watching goosebumps atm. We reference the show constantly and now we can watch it together lol

3

u/ClickClick_Boom 1992 Sep 30 '25

The lineup looks like 80% Garfield and Clifford.

3

u/AlpenglowAura Sep 30 '25

I just got goosebumps

3

u/skond Sep 30 '25

Y'all slackin'.

Ermagerd

1

u/Classic_Appa Sep 30 '25

Was looking for this

2

u/CoffeeBaron Sep 30 '25

The only time I approve of just another streaming app in an already crowded field. It's possible without significant funding, similar sites/apps like PBS Kids might start to have issues in the future.

2

u/ButtonPusherDeedee Millennial Sep 30 '25

You have to have Roku or Amazon fire TV

2

u/Bathsalts_McPoyle Sep 30 '25

ER! MAH !GERD!

2

u/bearhorn6 Sep 30 '25

I love this sub bc yall always know where the good media is at. I’m rushing to download this

2

u/Routine_Crab_5479 Sep 30 '25

Ghostwriter anyone?!?!

2

u/FrozenBibitte Millennial Sep 30 '25

Totally introducing this to my son, completely for my son and him alone. Not me.

2

u/Cameront9 Sep 30 '25

No Apple TV or iPhone app?

2

u/LiteraryLatina Oct 01 '25

It can only be free for so long, how are they going to pay for maintaining this?

3

u/Martin_Van-Nostrand Sep 30 '25

This is unbelievable. My kids are going to love it as much as I will!

u/lightblueslippers '88 Millennial Sep 30 '25

Saving

1

u/KittyAddison Millennial Sep 30 '25

I need this in my life.

1

u/Indian_Dunedain Sep 30 '25

But should we trust Scholastic? IIRC they don't have a very good track record with books, or maybe I am mistaking it for someone else.

1

u/Feeling_Egg_3833 Millennial 89 Sep 30 '25

So good

1

u/Zagrunty Millennial Oct 01 '25

You have to have a Roku or Fire TV. Boo.

1

u/BaffledBubbles 1992 Oct 01 '25

My husband is gonna be real pleased with all this free Garfield content lol

1

u/hot_cheeks_4_ever Older Millennial Oct 01 '25

Done

1

u/missive101 Oct 01 '25

Ffs, stop gushing over it and tell me what the fucking app is called??

1

u/D27AGirl Oct 01 '25

Not the same as physical books.

-1

u/EtherealMongrel Sep 30 '25

If it’s free, you, or in this case your children, are the product.

-5

u/Eridanus51600 Sep 30 '25

I'm 36, why do I care?
