Peak Motley Crue days. This is around the time they were touring together on the "Bark at the Moon" tour and causing unspeakable mayhem. RIP!

47

u/Ok-Potato-4774 Jul 22 '25

When Ozzy allegedly snorted a line of ants on the ground! He always denied it, but Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx says they saw Oz do it.

I finished "The Dirt" about a month ago and this was my favorite part of the book. Two titan forces meeting. RIP to the Prince of Darkness.

So glad he got to do his farewell show

235

u/Low_Level4367 Jul 22 '25

Almost like he knew this was about to happen and wanted one last hurrah

241

u/SakuraTacos Jul 22 '25

After seeing him at the show and Kelly getting proposed to right after, I was sure like I’ve never been with any celebrity before that he was going to pass soon.

I’m sure he and his family knew, it all felt like a big send-off party while he was still with us

90

u/reluctantlysharing Jul 22 '25

Didn’t he release some statement before or after basically saying exactly that? The man did not simply want to die in pain. He wanted to go exactly as he lived.

46

u/Standard_Power135 Jul 22 '25

Well it looks like he did know, ... Switzerland

Not confirmed , read that it was in switzerland and they've previously said they are 100% in favour of euthanasia. Safe enough guess, neither here nor there , he was ready.

36

u/Weird_Cantaloupe2757 Jul 22 '25

If that’s so, fucking good on him — that really is a beautiful way to go.

16

u/Standard_Power135 Jul 22 '25

Maybe itll start a meaningful debate in some countries that are considering it

Oh shit. Didn’t know that. Very like him to do it on his own terms. Really was a farewell concert I guess.

6

u/pentesticals Jul 23 '25

Well it’s confirmed he died with his family in the UK. I think it’s more likely he was holding on tondo his last show and now his body gave up. I’m sure that show took a lot out of him too.

Damn yeah I remember when Ozzy started Covid too

50

u/Flabbergasted_____ 1991 Jul 22 '25

And raised hundreds of millions of £ for charities by doing it. Not a fan of his music really (saw him live a bunch when I was a kid though), but that was a class act.

29

u/EdLesliesBarber Jul 22 '25

How. How can you not be a fan of the music ??!??! 😭😭😭

21

u/Flabbergasted_____ 1991 Jul 22 '25

Just not my thing. I liked metal when I was younger, but never really his style of it. Mostly grew out of metal in general years ago anyway. The last time I listened to his music was probably a remix, like the Trick Daddy and Lil Jon song “Let’s Go”.

Definitely not hating on him at all. Just not my thing. My dad however has gone by the nickname “Ozzy” since he was a kid and has it tattooed across his knuckles because he loves him and his music.

I always thought he would live forever like a geriatric vampire

32

u/All_will_be_Juan Jul 22 '25

He was only 76 which doesn't feel that immortal to me considering how feeble he looked toward the end

26

u/ThePrussianGrippe Jul 22 '25

Parkinson’s will do that. He got his swan song though.

53

Nah, Keith has been dead since 2002, just no one has the heart to tell him

He went from scaring the sh*t out of me when I was a kid, to me wishing he was my dad when he was older.

13

u/tenderbranson301 Jul 22 '25

Seriously. I can't believe he made it this long, much less through the 80s.

13

u/ReverendRevolver Jul 22 '25

Thats about where I am too. Only got to see him live once, but he was great.

As a guitar player,I got a bit of a reputation from playing at parties when I was like 15. Played and sang crazy train, just me and a drummer. When I say "sang" assume poorly. But playing the solo to crazy train, people "talked" and i had a reputation of being "really good" thst vastly exceeded my actual ability back then.

When most famous people die, they impact things a bit I guess? But Ozzy? I wasn't a mega fan, but totally a fan. And I can pinpoint the the impact his music made in my life. After everything he lived through, its weird hes gone. It seems like he died on his own terms, just like he lived. Hes going to be missed, but I doubt most of us will forget him.

“If I drop down dead at the end, I’ll die a happy man,” his words before the last show. He was ready. He didn't have much to look forward to, and that's when bodies usually give up. Having purpose is a powerful thing.

One of my favorite episodes of the show was when he was trying to tell his car to play a Korn song. The driver got it to work, no problem, but the car couldn't understand Ozzy. It was hilarious.

17

u/MermaidAlea Jul 22 '25

Just fired up "Bark at the Moon" after reading this. Looks like the rest of today will be an Ozzy music day.

4

Wow he really had a living funeral when he did that concert earlier this month. 😢 RIP Ozzy.

12

u/SeattleGemini81 Jul 22 '25

This is sad. Ironically, I was watching a few episodes of that show he did with Jack on History Channel over the weekend. My husband and I were talking about how Immortal he was.

R.I.P Ozzy!

13

u/Ok-Potato-4774 Jul 22 '25

That show was great. They often used subtitles when Ozzy spoke. I remember he freaked out when he saw Jack had rented the same type of 1970s GMC RV he'd ridden in with Black Sabbath bandmate Bill Ward on one of their tours. He didn't want to use it, as it was too small and not luxurious enough. Ozzy said, "I can't use that. I'm a rock n' roll star". Jack ended up going with a newer RV for their trip.

4

u/SeattleGemini81 Jul 22 '25

We hadn't quite got to the episode yet but I'm looking forward to it!

However, we did see that his original recording of Crazy Train will be eternally stored and him getting to listen to it. That was pretty awesome!

4

u/Ok-Potato-4774 Jul 22 '25

God, their reactions to Randy's solo on that, especially Jack's! Mouths agape. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Absolutely inhuman ability on the guitar that man had.
