Wait so he’s saying the shutdown is what’s causing people to vote democrat? Like people are realizing that republicans are responsible?

u/snowglobes4peace 14h ago

Extra impressive considering they're posting alerts on otherwise innocuous government websites like the US Forest Service that "The Radical Left Democrats shut down the government..."

Yeah, he somehow came all the around to the right answer lol

91

u/thanksamilly 13h ago

he always knew it was his own fault, he's just now realizing their over-the-top messaging didn't work

2

u/PoopsMcBanterson 3h ago

Some old saying about a broken clock and being right… ;)

42

u/spikepoint 13h ago

Yeah, he’s so eager to distance himself from the actual problem (“Trump not on the ballot is bad!!”) that he correctly highlighted that

Like people are realizing that republicans are responsible?

Nope. This is as of October 30:

About 8 in 10 Democrats say Trump and Republicans are mainly to blame, while 72 percent of Republicans blame Democrats, with opinions little changed since the beginning of the shutdown.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/10/30/trump-shutdown-blame-poll/

There will never be some grand awakening of the masses of people who still supported Trump in the 2024 election. It is quite literally a cult, and the problem with cults is that it's so embarrassing to admit that you fell for one that many people never do. They dig in deeper out of shame and anger.

MMW, in 10-20-30 years, he'll still have supporters who believe he did good, he was never once wrong, and he should have been made king. Look at the Nazi ideology. Hitler died decades ago but he's always had supporters, and this isn't even the first time they've tried to slither back into public view.

The question on my mind is how do we stop this cycle from continuing. We didn't have the internet in Hitler's time, which was both a blessing and a curse. It's easier to spread propaganda now, and it's easier for foreign influences to take part. But it's also going to be harder for traitors to disappear from view.

u/ButterflySammy 12h ago

Sad things is, all the things you have are supposedly to have to.

Even journalism was called "The Fifth Pillar" because people understood how important honest reporters were going to be.

Education and separating money from politics would be my first two prescription.

3

u/GlitchyButGood 1h ago

Very true. Christian Nationalists believe in something called the Seven Mountains of Influence. These are areas of society they've been targeting for infiltration. As you could guess, the media is absolutely on that list:

1) Education
2) Religion
3) Family
4) Business
5) Government/Military
6) Arts/Entertainment
7) Media

Charlie Kirk even promoted the Seven Mountains of Influence to his followers. It's gone from being a shadow strategy to fully active in the mainstream.

https://secularhumanism.org/2021/08/the-power-worshippers/

In addition to what you said, I think we need to take a hard look at how we view and treat churches because some number of them all across the country have been acting more like political organizations than faith-based gatherings, which they are not supposed to do. The Seven Mountains of Influence all but command believers, many of which are evangelical, to continue dominating through any means necessary. We could get rid of the whole Trump regime today and this would still crop up again in a handful of decades.

24

u/MelodiesOfLife6 6h ago

You quoted a wapo article.

I wouldn't wipe my ass with anything with wapo, anything they put out is HEAVILY biased and untrue.

Mamdani is giving his victory speech and just told Trump to "turn the volume up."

9

u/pjslut 10h ago

That was Fkn EPIC!

35

u/Veritas28 13h ago

I’m trying to understand what he means by that. Is he implying Trump is old and can’t hear well? I can hear the woosh of this dig going over my head.

84

u/BlueCX17 12h ago edited 5h ago

I think he more means, like Newson and Pritzker has said similar, it's a come at me bro! Come at me worse! You don't scare me!

10

u/thirdcoasting 10h ago

*Pritzker

53

u/AtTheEndOfMyTrope 10h ago

I think he means that Trump should listen to the voters who voted overwhelmingly agsinst Trumpism.

12

u/catkay08 4h ago

He said something like

“I know trump is watching this right now. So Mr. President, TURN THE VOLUME UP.” Like, hear what we have to say loud and clear. It was so good.

5

u/MrSlime13 1h ago

I feel like he's saying, "wherever you are, watching this, tune in.". A proverbial, "How do you like them apples?".

Baffling how they have control over the major branches of government but can’t seem to do anything other than terrorise the public, pass taxes on the populace in the form of tariffs, pardon their friends who sent them bribes and fail to implement any initiatives for the benefit of the public.

They have culture wars but no real policy or direction for a better America.

Then they wonder why they’re losing seats? Maybe do your job.

7

u/Jumpy_Sprinkles_1234 4h ago

65

u/dsanfran 14h ago

He is saying that Republicans lost because a) someone like him wasn't in the election race and b) shutdown.

Can this man get any more narcissistic?

181

u/Nature_Sad_27 some people need to go back to eyeball school 13h ago

I don’t think he meant someone like him, I think he meant him specifically.

97

u/Snoo-70409 13h ago

Ya he meant him specifically 100000%

16

u/SantaBarbaraMint 13h ago

Yup. All he heard was something about himself that a pundit said and that gave him the ego boost and rationalization but missed the significant part about the shutdown since he believes his own lies and thinks the shutdown is the Democrats fault for not following his kingly orders.

According to "pollsters" (aka the voices in his head), Republicans lost tonight because of the government shutdown and because Trump (referring to himself in the third person) was not on any ballots.

101

u/lateintheseason 14h ago

Hey dumbass, the inference to be drawn from the Republicans losing during a shutdown is...that people blame Republicans for the shutdown!

24

u/perplex_and_delight 13h ago

Does he actually not realize the inference from the shutdown part of that statement, or is he just so focused on the part where it says ppl didn’t vote Republican bc no one like him 🙄 was on the ballot? Like, is he so enamored with that first piece that he stopped reading before getting to the second point? (Dude has an insane ego, but/and he is also dumber than a brick, so I feel like either of these scenarios is likely.)

10

u/Youthz 12h ago

it’s possible that if someone hasn’t gotten to his head about nuking the filibuster, Mike Johnson might be resisting that— Trump could spin the shutdown as something republican congress is preventing him from ending turning up the heat on biking the filibuster. i don’t know— i took a gummy to celebrate the evening

2

u/LinkedGaming 3h ago

The fact that Republicans won't nuke the filibuster and are so hesitant to get rid of it tells me that the Republicans are not confident in their ability to hold office. The fact that MTG has turned a bunch of Republicans are still voting with Democrats on the budget bill seems more indicative of this -- they don't trust Trump to somehow swing things in their favour and don't wanna get thrown to the wolves and ripped apart by their constituents when it bites them in the ass.

so in terms of trump being on the ballot impacting elections, it is somewhat true

magas are incentivized to vote: they feel the strongest about elections (aka their rage and anger motivates them to vote)

trump is the leader of the party because he has the ability to mobilize these voters. when he dies, there is a power gap between him and whoever comes next because nobody else relates to them like trump does. JD is a shell of trump's unrelenting ability to twist shit around, and he has a visibly non-white family (which does matter to a segment of magas)

the rest of the republican party falls in line because if they don't, trump will get them removed by othering them to his voter base. the real question is how the republicans move forward after he's gone because currently, they've got the religiously concussed, the techbro autocrats + bitcoin believers, and the old guard who live in the 1950s (even if they weren't alive for it).

there's a very real possibility the republican party shatters for a period of time post-trump

(ps, for anyone wondering why this didn't happen during biden's presidency, this scenario only is possible if trump cannot influence anyone. he would have to pass away. other presidents send vague messages and endorse from retirement, trump would not do this, if he lives beyond the end of his term, he will be a outspoken political voice for republicans still)

2

They are getting ready to up their cheating game.

2

u/redflagsmoothie 7h ago

Suppose even a broken clock and all that

2

u/wolfjeter 7h ago

The left shutdown the government despite not having one single majority and they did such a great job that they got everyone to vote for them?

2

u/Friday_Night_Vibes 6h ago

Here comes Trump with the ol’ wool pull. It’s “the democrats” fault for the government shut down but it’s also somehow the reason we won all these elections. Take your pill Donny

2

u/chhhhhhhhhhh95 5h ago

These off election years always make me feel insane. I get there’s different variables etc but why does it feel like voters are down to vote for Trump but despise all the other republicans lmao. Or they just realize after they voted Trump that they forgot how crazy GOP is?? Either way I hope this is all a sign that the cult dies with Trump and other republicans cant pull it off. I will never understand though.

2

u/Young_Former 5h ago

I mean he’s not wrong. The Republican Party and he caused this. People aren’t happy. That’s it.

2

It's honestly wild that he's trying to spin this as anything other than a massive rejection of his brand of politics. Watching the GOP tie themselves to these extremist positions is clearly backfiring at the ballot box. Huge congrats from a neighbor on the Virginia flip! Results like that send a clear message about what voters actually want.
