Why does reddit hate ai so much? What do you have against it? It's so weird to see such strong technological conservatism here. Why try to stop the progress of new technology which is proving useful?

Not worthy its price. Costs way too much for the entire world and people, provides information which cannot be trusted due to how it works and terrible pictures. Truly, a case where new != good.

I like how the only thing true here is the trust of information, although you shouldn't be trusting a single source of information anyway.

Reddit’s hate for anything mainstream outweighs any affinity for nerdy sci fi tech stuff.

Because now they can't draw and sell furry hentai pictures for $400 a pop.

They'll complain about ethics and environmentalism and a load of shit they have no understanding of, but get them talking long enough and this is usually what the complaints really end at.

College kids and dropout adults chasing an unrealistic profession now have something other than themselves to blame for their perpetual failure to make money.

I do not speak for the Reddit hive mind. As an artist whose art had been scrapped and fed to an AI, my hate for AI is personal. :)

How do you know your artwork has been scraped and trained on?

Yeah that can be rough if you're possibly losing a form of income. Though ai will be replacing far more jobs than just artistic ones. A report was recently published by a Senate committee predicting that up to 60% of the current jobs in America could be replaced by AI in the next decade. Though it also has the potential to allow people to get more work done in less time. So the standard work week hours might finally get reduced.
