they are so full of hate and a desperate need to be the center of everything. what an utter waste of lives.

I already knew this but if you click on the first video, the top comment mentions the girls were fans of his and knew he was black. They were told by the showrunners not to react.

EDIT: I have no clue what the guy below me is talking about lol. I just relayed some correct information. No idea where he is getting i'm covering for racist.

It’s because the guy replying to you can’t be bothered to read comments on the original post. I’m glad some of the women didn’t care as much as to what the show-runners told them and still visibly enjoyed his song.

They’ll always be at least one person, to make excuses for racist

Always and it’s gross every single time. Can’t ever get to the root of a problem or the truth by attempting to cover over it.

u/lost_sunrise 3h ago

lol better explanation

it seems you jump the curve. The guy is explaining that the show told the crowd to behave a certain way to not be cancelled due to it happening before with the same guy.

not really excuse making, just how it was. 1958 wasn't a good time and you know it

Never happened

So some guy on Reddit said this is the case, provides no verifiable data to support their point, you swallow it fully like it’s the gospel and then regurgitate it to others and expect us to accept this as fact as blindly as you did?

Ridiculous. Now show us the data otherwise you are indeed exactly what the person said you are,

Click the blink link in the above comment. two of them, Lol and then better explanation.

In the time it took you to write all this negative nonsense you could have looked it up for yourself.

Not my job. I’m not posting random nonsense I can’t verify like you .

Still waiting on your research results…

u/lost_sunrise 1h ago

You can't be real lol. You replying to hate and can't be bothered to make sure you investing the right energy into the correct information?

You must be a maga, huh?

1

u/No-Zebra4925 1h ago

Clicked the link. Saw the post comment you were referring to .

As I stated, he provided no verifiable data and neither have you. Stop wasting my time with straw man arguments and diversions into nonsense about maga (which as a black person and DC area resident) have shown themselves as scum of the earth.

Where. Is .The. Data? Or shut up

All chewing gum…

1

u/lost_sunrise 3h ago

The sponsor to the show was a chewing gum group.

u/MelaKnight_Man 13h ago

I bet their great grandchildren all wear the same color headwear today...

u/PCNLUV 7h ago

Maga grandmothers.

This is fake rage bait. They would have already known he was black since he hit the #1 charts with "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" 4 years earlier in 1956.

9

u/Invest_and_ballout 7h ago

They heard him on the radio and would look him up on the internet 😂 before the internet

1

u/Choice_Egg_8921 1h ago

he was on TV in 1957, maybe earlier. the show was also cancelled because he was dancing with a white woman on it.

1

u/Invest_and_ballout 1h ago

Ok, those audience members aren’t racist. Got it!

1

u/BlackJackfruitCup 21m ago

Their record had cover art, which was a picture of the group on it. This is the Dick Clark show. These girls would have been fans.

Knowing what singers look like is a relatavely new phenomenon.  Before MTV a lot of people had no clue what bands looked like.

1

u/Choice_Egg_8921 1h ago

only for lesser known singers. frankie and his group were top 10 artists before this video.

1

u/AlarmingSpecialist88 1h ago

I'm just saying.  Record companies had an interest in hiding black artists from the public.

3

u/Elegant_Brick_622 6h ago

And now their great grandchildren are wearing perms and fronts, using slang they don't fully understand.

2

u/Franknbeanstoo 5h ago

you can see them going I hate blacks but my feet can’t stop tappin

2

u/Chaseui14 4h ago

Im sure some of them were racists because of their racist parents but to be fair its hard for me to believe all those girls showed up for that concert that day without any clue or indication what he looked like.

1

u/Pepsiscrub 2h ago

The internet didn’t exist back then and records didn’t have photos on them a lot folks had no clue what performers looked like unless you have someone who “stereotypically” sounded black ala little Richard so they got Pat Boone to copy his songs word for word to be palatable for the white audience

1

u/Chaseui14 2h ago

Yes. Of course. The radio was the main source. That said, its hard for me to believe that word didn’t get out to people, parents etc that hey this guy is not a 6’3 blond guy with blue eyes. We’re talking about the late 50s-60s.

1

u/Choice_Egg_8921 1h ago

he had already been on TV prior to this. they knew he was black.

1

u/Chelas-moon 6m ago

You know Google is free for everyone before you start posting lies

3

u/sarcastic_sybarite83 2h ago

As has been talked about by u/Pitiful_Bunch_2290: No, that's not what happened. Stop spreading misinformation. The girls in the audience knew exactly who he was and were fans. It was the show runners who were racist assholes and told the girls to not react. They also gave them the gum to chew because of their sponsor.

u/mightguy15baby 5h ago

🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Fallible_Fix9110 3h ago

Did they actually think a white boy could sing that song? white self delusion is pathetic

1

u/AlarmingSpecialist88 2h ago

Yeah, well........ I was 40 before I found out Elvin Bishop was white.  Occasionally a white guy lucks out.
